Theoman Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I was recently at a visit to the neurologist for something minor (turned out I'm fine). At the appointment, they drug tested me. I passed all of the drugs, except for antidepressants. The only problem is, I'm not on any medications and I don't do any drugs. The only thing that has changed in my life is that I've stopped smoking and started vaping. This, of course, could be a false positive, or maybe even any number of unpredictable things. I'm just curious to know if anyone else has heard of or knows about any chemicals that go into e-juice that might resemble or come off as an antidepressant in a urine sample for a drug test. I get all of my e-juice from a highly reputable store. I won't name them just to protect their company since what I'm asking is a moderately weird question. I'm also not saying this was the cause. I just really don't know. Any help or ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!
actor92191 Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 Very odd. This is the first case I've heard of this happening. Stay tuned and I'm sure other people will jump in soon with their opinion!
Jeffb Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I dont think it has anything to do with the e-juice. It is very interesting.
snubber Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 I have to take drug screening all the time for my work, plus randoms from time to time and have never had any of them come back with that reaction. Must be a false reading.
owutaqt Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 (edited) That is pretty bizarre. I know certain foods can test positive for different drugs, would be interesting to know what would test positive for that other than the actual substance. Found this though? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20100405154332AAv6hGw http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20090420171337AAMIFtc http://www.passthetest.com/causes-for-false-positives.html Edited January 14, 2011 by owutaqt
Christopher Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Hmm interesting. I've never heard of this before either. Could be a strange false positive. I've taken drug tests for security clearances while vaping and have yet to ever anything positive show up.
Theoman Posted January 14, 2011 Author Posted January 14, 2011 Rockin! Thank you all for your responses. I guess I can check e-juice off of the list. I looked at those links, but couldn't find anything relevant to my situation. Thank you for looking them up though! I'll just leave up to a random false-positive. Nothing to worry about. Just thought it would be weird if e-juice was doing something like this. Thank you all again!
nana Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I've had several blood tests done since I started vaping and nothing like that showed up on mine. Well, not that they told me about anyway.
Jeffb Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 This could explain why I am so happy when I vape.
Brian Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I've had a lot of blood work done over the past year and nothing abnormal has shown up. Very odd tough - that would drive me nuts wanting to find out what it was.
nana Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 This could explain why I am so happy when I vape. OHHHHH....now there's a thought!!
Prouddad Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 I have tested positive for Antidepressants too ! But I take them keep vaping !
