Anyone know if Colorado offers FIOS? (So far it isn't looking great) If not does any company offer fiber optic connections?

For those of you in Colorado what speeds are you at right now?

Like you want to get an answer from me. Ha! Ha! I had this conversation just a couple weeks ago with someone. Right now it looks like the only service is Comcast, Qwest and whatever satellite services is available. There are outside providers, but they buy the lines from either Comcast and Qwest. So you are still at their mercy of what they offer. However, I heard that Qwest is up to something that may be fiber optic. My neighbor is chomping at the bit over this and plans on making the switch when it is available. Supposedly it is supposed to be much faster and better than Comcast. I have been looking for something the last few months and my search has been futile. Sorry. I just happen to have a very slow, cheap package from a outside provider. I would love it if Verizon offered FIOS here. I am done with our options.

edit - if you find something, let me know. I would be interested.

hmm yea after a little more research it looks like Comcast may be the only real option. I've never heard of Qwest. They look like a small company.

Comcast is offering speeds upwards of 50mb as advertised on their website...but it's comcast. I've had them in the past and their speeds never seem to equal what they are supposed to. We'll see.

Qwest is the big telephone provider in Colorado. They offer DSL and landline phone service. They also have bundles with a satellite provider and Verizon wireless. Qwest replaced what used to be Mountain Bell, if that makes more sense in what they do.

I had Comcast too and was happy. But it just got to be too expensive for me. I will probably end up back with them when things finally settle down.

yup--comcast. I hate the price, but can't live without cable internet--honestly, I haven't had any problems with their internet--cable for the TV is a different story however......

options are pretty limited.

should also see if you can get uverse out there. much less expensive than fios or cable.

my buddy switched over to att uverse and gets more channels (including movie channels), more internet speed, and phone at less than JUST his regular cable + internet from comcast.

We have very few options here. Satellite, Qwest, or dial-up here. We only have one option for cable, which is horrible. We have satellite for tv and used to have it for internet until they finally got DSL through Qwest for us.
