Spikey
Okay... I hope at this point I don't need to explain who I am and say hi to the admin and the peeps I already know for a couple years... so let me just say.. I am replying to this post.. http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/8863-vaping-and-cataracts/ And it would be awesome if someone can move it to that thread for me or post a link in that thread to this post? Or copy this post to that thread? Cause I don't have time to make 5 posts (nor can I think of 5 things I would say for no apparent reason since I am not a noob and have no questions lol!). My reply... I do not know where markarich's original post was, so I do not know if that was the full content of his post that Chris quoted... but if it was.. I am surprised that he did not mention that it may not be something in vapor... but rather LACK of something. The fact that our bodies are MISSING something from cigarettes which may have been preventing the worsening of any of these issues is a real possibility. I am not an eye doctor and it would be best to provide info for your doctors about ingredients of e-liquid and ask them if they think this could be a cause. My thought was that cigs contain a lot of preservatives and crap and byproducts... SO many things that ecigs do NOT... and those things may have been preventing whatever condition manifested and then when we took it away... it made it self rapidly clear. I say someone posted about cig smoke being bad for the lens because of the organic particulates and metals and other crap in the smoke... but they did not consider what the body may be ingesting from the cigarettes. Again.. I am not a Dr.. but I would suggest that people tell your doctor ALL the details of what you do if there is ANY possibility it could be affecting your medical condition. Dr's do their job better when they have all the facts. I do think I should also mention that blurred vision was only mentioned as a side effect of nic overdose. It is copied off a list of side effects from a nicorette gum package. It has nothing to do with being a side effect of the chem's in nic liquid.. but rather as a symptom of nic overdose. Some of the listed "symptoms/side effects" of vaping were from nic overdose symptoms (rapid pulse, slurred speech, blurry vision, etc... ) and the rest were commonly found symptoms of quitting smoking (mouth sores, fatigue, sore throat, coughing, etc...). So these were not things having to do directly with vaping necessarily. Hope some of that is helpful... PS.. Chris... try writing back to my emails and replying to my skype messages... I thought we were friends way back when? What did I ever do to you?
Spikey
I say someone posted about cig smoke being bad for the lens because of the organic particulates and metals and other crap in the smoke... but they did not consider what the body may be ingesting from the cigarettes. That should say "I saw someone posted about... " but I cannot find an edit button. Maybe cause I don't have 5 posts yet? So I am required to look dumb and not be allowed to correct my posts until I have 5??? There.. that is 2... hah
Shihzam
I've noticed my eyes being dryer than normal, thought it was I am on the Forums more. I sit behind 4 monitors all day then come home and drag out the laptop till I go to bed. Will be watching this close, I am not going to quit vaping. We all will need to increase our water intake. DAYVAPE
If its from the nic itself... could it be that we are taking in more nic than we realize... and more than we were when we smoked analogs? Just a thought. Oh, and up until about 7 months ago my vision was great... now I wear glasses.
mastiffmom
I have been near sighted for years and about 5 years ago became unable to read close up. I think the time spent in front of a computer is the biggest problem. We went to computer charting about that time and now that is all I use. Then I come home and and am back and forth to the computer. Cataracts run in my family so I figure I'll develop them at some point, I'm more concerned with avoiding COPD, so I'll keep vaping. Esig
Hi Guys and Girls yes I am back after a little absence because of health reasons the people who can remember me would maybe remember the story why I left. Those of you who don’t some months ago after getting very bad kidney infection the doctors did I scan and found growths on my one kidney after tests they told me it was cancerous but that they caught it early. I went into a complete state of denial and even posted on here that it was not cancerous. I just could not accept that a person like me that never even get a cold for longer than 24 hours and never ever in my life even had a operation and now they told me I had cancer what the hell? But I had to get myself together quickly if I was going to beat this monster so I told my doctor that seeing they caught it early enough and that there is no sign of spreading yet not even to my other kidney they must go ahead and completely remove the bad kidney as I could still lead a completely normal live with just one kidney. So here I am after the operation which was a great success and some chemo still not feeling 100% but I’m getting there and other then being on medication and going back for regular checkups to make sure the monster does not return. Funny how something like that really make you appreciate life. I JUST WANT TO MAKE IT CLEAR THAT WHAT HAPPEND TO ME HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH VAPING. I’m still vaping and enjoying it. Ok I know that was off the topic Chris started but just wanted it out there. Now to get back to the topic Chris started I always had excellent vision and was always proud of it but I started vaping permanently in March 2010 and a couple of months later I started noticing that my eyesight is not what it was before it even got so bad that my left eye started to pull skew a couple of times a day which was quite embarrassing especially when it happens while you are talking to a client or at the checkout in the shops. My family tried to laugh it off because of the things I went thru and told me when it happens that I’m giving them the evil eye. I did not mention any of this to my other doctors but I guess that now I will have to go and see the eye specialist I just keep putting it off God I’m not ready for more bad news yet but I suppose I will have to. Like many other people I also wrote it off as getting old but I guess that excuse won’t help I will just a to get the courage and go and see the eye doc. AGAIN I DO NOT SAY THAT EVEN THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH VAPING ALL I SAY IS IT STARTED A COUPLE OF MONTHS INTO STARTING TO VAPE. Maybe I am just getting old but I will keep you updated. I’m just so thankful to be back.

LoriHNC
I would be curious to hear from 0 mg vapers, as to whether anyone that is 0 nic experiences this blurriness at all. FTJoe?

LoriHNC
Sorry to hear about what you went through Esig. Sounds like you're recovering awesomely. My mom and dad both had renal cell carcinoma and had nephrectomies. They did fine with one kidney. Drink lots of cranberry juice
