tb20pilot Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 I ordered a Janty stick after doing some research online and seeing Chris and Sean's review on youtube, but hadn't signed up to this board at that point... so maybe I'm starting out with the wrong equipment after reading the problems some have had with it.. but its a start. It shipped two days ago and I'm looking fwd to putting it in service. I like the concept of the JS, lg battery, interchangeability, and the fact it doesnt look like a cigarette. I want to buy a few atomizers to keep as spares but need a recommendation for a solid, reliable atomizer for my JS, possibly something interchangeable with my employees new soon to be units... and a recommendation for them as well. I have several employees who smoke and I want to introduce them to vaping.. but don't know which one buy them to get them started to begin with. I'm leaning toward a pen style for them since we could keep the same atomizers around and they would be interchangeable with my JS... meaning they will undoubtedly be using my parts when theirs go out. I'm thinking of keeping replacement parts on hand so no one has a reason to backslide into analog smoking. I've paid for them to go to stop smoking gimmicks in the past with no good results, so buying them a vapor setup isn't anymore expensive and looks to have a lot more promise. Our office is in FL so going outside for smoke breaks is harsh when its in the 90s with 80% humidity, so letting them vape in the office will be an attractive proposition. Any recommendations for atomizers for my JS, a quality starter setup for my employees, and any other words of wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Mitch
StringDancer Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 You can't go wrong with the penstyle, Mitch. I've tried most models, and still prefer the rich vapor, ease of draw, and robust performance of penstyle models. Plus, they tend to be among the most reasonably-priced models, so if you're buying in bulk to supply your employees (a totally hip thing to do, BTW), you'd get the job done and save money. I truly believe, depending on the number of your employees, that factoring in increased productivity by not needing smoke breaks, and reducing insurance claims and health care premiums (wouldn't it be nice to significantly lower the number of smokers on your employee roster with the insurance company?) that you'll see some big savings by taking such a pro-vaping approach to the matter. Any of the VaporTalk certified suppliers would be a good choice for a source.
DarthVaper Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Mitch, I gotta add my kudos too. What you're thinking of doing for your employees is the coolest thing I've heard in a long time. The country needs more employers with your spirit. I'm going to agree with StringDancer on the penstyle, even though I'm a big advocate of the Yeti now. The penstyle is a good, reliable choice for transitioning off of analogs, and can probably be had in bulk for a good price. Maybe you could find a Florida-area dealer who would not only be willing to supply you at first, but also come down to your place of business and give a quick tutorial on how to use e-cigs for your employees? I'm sure if you posted it here, perhaps like a contest or something, some seller would jump at the chance!
tb20pilot Posted June 17, 2009 Author Posted June 17, 2009 Thanks for the kind words, looks like this may be the start of something good. My JS arrived after lunch and I have to say I'm impressed. The employees were skeptical about the whole idea until they saw me enjoying my first vaping session inside the office, now they can't wait until their next break to check it out. I bought the wrong refill cartridges however. I bought the Janty dura carts and they don't fit. When I ordered the JS, at the bottom of the page for the JS it said "Customers who bought this product also purchased"- then links for dura cartridges. I ended up pulling the wicking out and switching it to the JS cartridges that came with it, but I need to know which cartridges are the right ones for the JS so I can order them... and some liquid. Cheers, Mitch
FloridaKracker Posted June 17, 2009 Posted June 17, 2009 Hey Mitch if you need some juice fast http://www.vapornine.com/ is out of St. Pete FL and when I talked to him he said he would do drive ups you would just have to email him first and ask again.
Christopher Posted June 18, 2009 Posted June 18, 2009 Bad things about the Janty Stick really? Sean has been using his like a mofo and it's been working fine. Keep us posted on how it works out, Parked from Dietsmoke was supposed to send another out to me, but I think he forgot. Not big deal, I'll just have to use Sean's a bit.
tb20pilot Posted June 18, 2009 Author Posted June 18, 2009 (edited) Hey Mitch if you need some juice fast http://www.vapornine.com/ is out of St. Pete FL and when I talked to him he said he would do drive ups you would just have to email him first and ask again. Good call, I stopped by and picked up an atomizer and some juice from Ben at vapornine on my way in to work. Ben went out of his way to have my order ready so I could pick it up on my way in. Thanks. So far I have no complaints with the stick. I've been changing up flavors and using it since it arrived. I seriously can't believe I've had no urge for an analog smoke since I started using it yesterday. I charged my two spare batteries so I had spares, changed one out this morning but it still wasn't dead. Thanks for putting out the videos and hosting the site. No doubt as vapeing becomes more mainstream it will make a huge difference. I think the early units may not have impressed many people but its a different deal when they try something quality like the ones you guys review. Edited June 18, 2009 by tb20pilot

Cheers, Mitch any of the pen-style carts work with the JS since it uses the pen atomizer, but I and a lot of the bored don't use carts anymore (too much of a hasell refilling them all the time) IMHO dry smoking or dripping is the way to go, pull the part full of the wicking out and put 2-3 drops of liquid right on the atomizer heating element.

Tried it..agreed I like the drip method... pulls a lot easier, tons of vapor. I guess I'll have to watch not to burn up the atomizer. Is dry smoking another term for the same thing or something different?

Dry smoking and driping are the same thing, as for buring up the atomizer just re-drip when the vapor drops or when it starts to taste harsh.
ScottB Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I also started with the stick and love it. I to am looking for good attys to buy Janty's are pretty expensive. If anyone could recommend one I would appreciat e it.

If anyone could recommend one I would appreciat e it. Just order some from Dietsmokes.com those work just as good as the Janty atomizers.
Christopher Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 So Chris, is the Janty Stick your #1 pick? I wouldn't say it's my number one but it's close, I love my 510 to much. But I feel the Stick and the 510 are on different levels. If your looking for something that doesn't"T look like an ecig, has long battery life and a good atomizer, get the stick. If you want something with great vapor, looks and feels like an ecig, get the 510. Oh and if your wondering the Janty stick is still working like new, nothing broke. If I was you I'd send a PM to Sean. (Go to the members link at the top of this page) He's used it more than I have and can tell you more.
SusBan Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Thanks, Chris. Been at this for about 3 weeks and I'm actually using a 510 now and really like it; considering trying something else for comparison (started with a DSE901, which is now back in the box most of the time). I love the vapor with the 510 -- the drawbacks for me are the battery charge life and the inconvenience of constant topping off or dripping. Have read about the teabag cart filler and will try that -- do you know if there's a picture or video of it in use? When I use the 510, I usually do long draws (or try to) until the atomizer gets pretty warm and then only wait until it cools down to start up again. Once it starts tasting off, I figure that's = 1 analog for me so I should hold it for a while ... right. Penstyle (801?) or Janty Stick next? Read a lot of good things about each of them. (I'll probably eventually try both, but don't want to stress my budget too much right now). The JS uses an atomizer from an 801 (or others) right? So the vapor would be the same with either one? Is the vapor from an 801 comparable to the 510? I've seen a manual battery for the penstyle, but I seem to remember reading complaints about it somewhere. Any comments on that? How about the battery charge on an 801 -- longer than 2 hours? Does the cart hold more juice? Thanks to the braver souls who jumped right in and can now answer my questions! This site is great.
Christopher Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Thanks, Chris. Been at this for about 3 weeks and I'm actually using a 510 now and really like it; considering trying something else for comparison (started with a DSE901, which is now back in the box most of the time). Story of my life at the moment, always buying something new I love the vapor with the 510 -- the drawbacks for me are the battery charge life and the inconvenience of constant topping off or dripping. Have read about the teabag cart filler and will try that -- do you know if there's a picture or video of it in use? Once it starts tasting off, I figure that's = 1 analog for me so I should hold it for a while ... right. That's almost EXACTLY how I vape my 510, it's neat to hear someone else vape the same way. I would go with the Janty stick to be honest. Before the 510 the best vapor producing unit was the Penstyle hands down. The vapor isn't as much as the 510 but it's close, it's also normally much tastier because the chamber is much longer. The vapor also isn't as warm. The nice thing about the penstyle atomizer is that it can take a pretty good beating, you can vape much longer on it than the 510 before it starts to get warm, and even when it does, it just works better. It's not like the 510 where you have to place it down for a minute. (I can usually vape a good 5-8 minutes on a penstyle before having to put it down) I've seen a manual battery for the penstyle, but I seem to remember reading complaints about it somewhere. Any comments on that? How about the battery charge on an 801 -- longer than 2 hours? Does the cart hold more juice? The battery life on a penstyle is about 2-3 hours or so, sometimes longer. Depends on how you use it. However the Janty Stick has GREAT battery life, anywhere from 3-5 hours at times. you can also change it out if something goes wrong. Well worth it IMO. I also talked to Sean tonight and he said the Janty Stick is still going strong and he loves it more than his 510. I asked why and he stated it just works all the time. He also likes that it can be hooked up to the computer. (In case you didn't know the Janty Stick can be used as a passthrough hooked directly to the computer, it's built in. Great feature, saves you money rather than having to purchase a passthrough seprate from the normal Penstyle) And yes the Janty uses any Penstyle atomizer. Although I prefer the RN models over the DSE. In my experiance the DSE atomizer last longer, but don't work as well, the RN models don't last as long but work better. But we're talking about a month here, so having to change your RN atomizer once a month is STILL cheaper than analogs. Thanks to the braver souls who jumped right in and can now answer my questions! This site is great. Oh it's been one heck of a ride! I think I've vaped myself stupid
SusBan Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Oh it's been one heck of a ride! I think I've vaped myself stupid :P I think the same after a pretty vigorous vaping session! So I guess there's no need for a complete penstyle set when you can use the atomizer with the awesome Janty Stick battery. I also like the idea that it actually looks electronic -- which could some in handy when trying to explain that I'm not smoking. I still tend to avoid vaping indoors, mostly out of habit and because my 2 cig breaks are usually the only 5 minutes I get away from my desk every day, but I'm sure that will change with the weather. It's reassuring to hear that you vape the 510 the same way -- as a noob I keep wondering if I'm doing it wrong, especially when the juice runs out so quick, but I guess I'm on the right track ... to vaping myself stupid Thanks again to you -- and Sean -- for your time.

Yup your doing it right. Sometimes I just take a "fatty" hit and place it down, then repeat about 2-4 minutes later. I noticed I tend to drag more over a long period of time with the ecig, where with analogs I'd take a ton of hits in a short period of time, then go back about 20 minutes later. If that make sense. And as always your very very welcome. One more person saved
