girldragon Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Could I use some of my organic wool yarn or fiber in the cart or no? Just curious
snubber Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I don't think I would recommend it. Not too sure how it will hold up when heated. If you need to refill your carts try fluval or blue foam from Petsmart.
Lily Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Hi, I would also not recommend using a 'natural' fiber in a cartridge. There's probably information somewhere online about what substances will melt at what temp., but an atty will melt the sides of a plastic cartridge. I direct dip or use cartomizers more than filler in a cartridge at this point, but I would suggest either washing to polyfil that is already in the cartridge or purchasing the fluval material. Good luck!
BEERCITYVAPRZ Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 I would use the blue foam but I think the reg. filler is just fine!
owutaqt Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Well as a knitter I do know that any acrylic yarn would melt and anything wool would burn, so I don't think these options would work.
girldragon Posted September 5, 2010 Author Posted September 5, 2010 Well as a knitter I do know that any acrylic yarn would melt and anything wool would burn, so I don't think these options would work. So-it gets quite hot in there then? To bad-I have a fiber/yarn shop and have lots around
owutaqt Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 WOW I would love to have a shop like that! Are you a knitter as well?
Christopher Posted September 7, 2010 Posted September 7, 2010 Yes it does get quite hot over time and it's really not worth risking burning anything inside your cart. Cartridges are pretty cheap and last quite some time. You'd be better of just buying new carts. Many members over the year or two have tried different things in carts and none seem to work that well. Remember direct dripping is also another great option Mark 1
