Names, Numbers And Prefixes

Hello all.

As I get more into this, I'm getting a little more confused about the numbering system for the different styles.

For example... I see that a DSE808 appears to be a large battery box type while the KR808D seems to be a 110mm mini.

I understand that some stores sell the product as their branded name... Revolver Elite, SmokeStik Classic... and I understand that they are a particular style... (smokestik is a 4081).

I have the model/compatibility chart ( www.e-cigarette-wiki.com/index.php?title=Brand_and_Model_Compatibility_Chart )

I like the chart, but I'm wondering if there is a system to the numbering...

What does DSE stand for vs. KR. What does the 808 refer to?

Is one of the numbers a reference to the thread size and count?

Does the DSE808 use the same cart as the KR808?

So for those of you that are as anal about this as me.... I'd love an explanation.

Thanks

As always....I'm HyOnLyph.

DSE, Joye, KR, are the manufactures. The number, 808, 510, is the model. It will refer to the battery and atomizer size and threads.

DSE808 and KR808 don't use the same cart or threads. The DSE808 uses the DSE801 atomizer.

"I have a 510 starter kit" - Means it has the 510 battery and atomizer.

"I use a 510 atomizer on my Joye eGo" - The eGo meaning the battery and 510 as the atomizer.

Just like phone companies, Nokia makes the 8900 and Blackberry makes the 8900. Neither use the same parts but have the same model number. That was just an example for you DSE808 vs KR8080 statement.

Most of the time, things match up though. DSE and Joye both make a 510 and they're parts are interchangeable.

It may seem overwhelming at first, it was for all of us as well. Just stick with it and over time you'll learn. It's just not something you get right way. When I started working at a cellphone store I was confused what phones only worked for T-Mobile, At&t and which were unlocked; but, in hindsight it seems like a very simple concept.

This thread may provide you with some other useful information about this topic. http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/6767-510-901-8-something-something-wah/

Nero explained it pretty well. There is no chart per say but there is a cheat. Usually, the larger the number the larger the model. The smaller the number the smaller the model.

EDIT:

Just to add why suppliers use model numbers by the way. Way back when suppliers used to come up with their own names (some still do) but customers didn't like the fact that one supplier would say "Cool model" was better than "super cool model" when both models where a 510 for example. Hence the reason suppliers now use model numbers. Since then a plethora of new units have been released. It gets harder and harder to keep up with everything.

For the most part the 510 has become the standard. Thus the reason why many new models use the 510 fitting. Just makes things easier. :)

It's also important for you to know that there are three main types of atomizers:

The 510 (most popular)

The 901

and the 801

Each of the above atomizers have their own threads (or connections at the bottom)

So, a 510 requires a battery or mod with a 510 connection, a 901 requires a battery or mod with a 901 connection, and an 801 requires a battery or mod with an 801 connection.

However, many suppliers sell adapters so you can mix and match combinations as needed. For example, if you have an 801 battery or mod with an 801 connection but wish to use a 510 atomizer, you would need an 801-to-510 adapter, etc.

The one piece of advice I could give you is try the different options out there! Although the 510 is arguably the most popular atomizer, I actually don't like them at all! I use the 801 atomizer only. But this will vary person to person... some people are also die-hard 901 fans. Just like choosing the tobacco brand you like (which we all did at one point in time), you need to explore to find your favorite atomizer, mod/voltage, and juice!!

Happy Vaping!

OK, I got as far as the BogeTech site and short circuited. I'll rest a moment, reset my brain and try again.

Yeah, I figured that... but I'm trying to figure out if there is a system to the other sizes. i.e. will a L88B cart fit on to a 4081 bat. (just an example... I'm pretty sure they aren't compatible)

Thanks again for the help.
