What To Buy?

I have been smoking for 20 years. I currently smoke menthol light 100's. I want to try an electronic cigarette to replace regular cigarettes. I have read a lot on these forums and find myself more confused than when I started. I don't know what a throat hit is. I don't what strength nicotine to order. I just want a similar experience to my current cigarettes -- and a day-long battery life is essential. Where do I start and what do I need? What should I buy back-ups of so I don't run out? Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, please don't use abbreviations and slang in your replies to me because I think that is what has me so confused when reading other posts. Thanks!

Welcome to VT!

Since you came right out the gate with battery life, I would go with the Joye eGo. The batteries generally last 8+ hours and a kit will come with two batteries. For nicotine, I smoked 1 1/2 packs a day for 20 years and 24mg was right for me. I would start with 24mg unless you smoke less, in which case probably go with 18mg. The MG is mg per ml, so 24mg mean there's 24mg of nic per 1 ml of juice. For backup I would get some extra attomizers as they can last anywhere from a couple of weeks to a couple of months. Once you get started, I'd pick up some spare batteries down the road, and whenever you order juice just pick up an extra atty or two to keep an ample supply.

Feel free to ask any questions... if there's anything you need help with, don't hesitate to ask. We've all been where you are and it can be a little overwhelming at first.

I'd reccomend going to the VT Store or vaporgalaxy.com or wordupecig.com and getting an eGo kit , a few extra atomizers, and a few bottles of 18-24 mg juice. Throat hit is the feeling you get when you inhale (what made you cough in the beginning).

If you smoke menthol now you will probably like the VaporTalk Mentha or any of the menthol juices on other sites. Although the juice is all different and you may have to go through a few before you find the taste you like.

Doh! Brian beat me here so....what he said too!! thumbsup.gif

I am smoking about 15 cigarettes a day. My worry is that if I go with the 18mg it may not be enough to satisfy my cravings. If I get the 24mg it would be enough I'm sure. If I just take a couple drags and am satisfied, can the e-cigarette just sit until I need more, or does the cartridge have to be replaced?

You can leave it sit.

I would recommend watching this video on direct dripping.

What is Direct Dripping

I watched the video and am getting ready to order the Joye eGo, a pack of 5 empty cartridges, and VT mentha liquid. I am not sure which atomizers to get. There is a Joye 510 listed, but it does not say it is compatible with the eGo. Do you know if that is the correct model to get?

if you get the eGo kit ...it all comes in it..... wall and usb charger. don't go with the 510. Battery life is minimal at best.

Kit contains 2 batteries, 2 atomizers, 2 cones, wall charger and usb charger. oh yeah a lil pouch too. to catty it in.

oh nice I see VT is giving a free bottle of juice with the kits! thumbsup.gif

Hi, welcome to the world of vaping, and the VT forum! I started out with a Joye 510 and then graded up to an eGo. It really does depend on what your needs are. With the 510 the battery life is about 2 hours and then the battery will have to charge for about that long as well. You will not be able to use a 510 charger on an eGo and vice versa. I started out with 24mg and now use 18mg after two and-a-half months. Keep reading and keep asking! Gluck!

According to the site, it doesn't come with the wall charger. I can't find a car charger either and that would be nice for long trips! Here's what the listing says it comes with:

The Vapor Talk eGo set comes with the following:

x 2 eGo 510 Standard Atomizers

x 2 651 mah batteries

x 2 atomizer cover

1 USB charger

5x cartridges

Seems like I definitely want to go with the eGo, then. I need the battery life. How long does a bottle of the VT e liquid last you? I'm not sure how much to order. I'd like to stock up a bit to take advantage of the free shipping.

Is one better than the other?

For the price, the eGo is a much better deal. The batteries on a regular Joye 510 kit only last 1-2 hours at best between charges.

Both are made by Joye. :)

It should, it's a standard part of the kit. the usb charger plugs into it so u can charge from the wall. The picture even shows it! let me see if I can get a hold of chris or someone that knows for sure.

Thanks! It would be inconvenient to have to charge it from my computer all of the time.
