Mac
I'm new to vaping, so forgive some questions I'll ask here that may sound absolutely stupid. I researched for moneths and finally settled on the Magma Deluxe system. It's amazing! I can order cartridges with various flavors, but I like regular tobacco. I also ordered a "dripping" mechanism that I haven't tried yet but will when I get some liquid - one step at a time. Anyway, each carto has some sort of filling (some sort of fiber, I don't know), and I just detach the carto from the atty when it's done and toss it to put on a new one. However, when I order liquid, is there something that would prevent me from simply refilling a carto with liquid or something that makes it a bad idea? I can order liquids in stronger strengths (Magma maxes at 16mg).
Roober
Ack! Honestly I wouldnt even bother with cartos unless like in a car, and cartomizers work better for that because theres less wicking issues. If you direct drip onto the atty, they do have drip tips that make it easier, and I wouldnt recommend more than 2-3 drops at a time on the atty. This is a preferred method by many as you get a fresh taste more often and again, no wicking issues or messy refills. You can however refill the carts, I used to just take the filling out, roll it up in a paper towel to clean the extra juice out, and fill up the mouth part, then fluff up the filler and stuff it in with tweezers. But again, dripping is the way to go most of the time! If you do end up doing this, I do recommend snipping off some of the plastic off the mouthpiece that goes close to the atty. Scissors work well for this. Hope that helps! What is the dripping mechanism? A drip tip?
Brian
Yes, you can refill the carts. The Maga looks like a 510 (probably with mega batteries). I saw that the kit you ordered only came with one attomizer, so I would recommend you get some spares ASAP. The filler in the carts can be removed and washed... just rinse in water and blot it dry with a paper towel. See the vids below for info on direct dripping. Direct Dripping How do you get so much vapor A lot of people who use carts use Fluval for the filler. The vid below shows how to do this. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6fTNO_fCugs&feature=player_embedded Edited August 19, 2010 by Brian

thisbetterwork
i'm a relative gnoob to vaping and was dripping and using carts at first but am now hooked on the cartos. i see no reason to use anything else, except for dripping sometimes in the comfort of my home. dripping during a work day is too many steps and too much stuff to mess with. cartos are simple and streamlined! just fill and vape. i have the 510 empty cartos and just put more juice in them when the taste gets to be a little less strong. Now i just started using cartos but have had zero issues refilling them thus far. at any rate a 5 pack costs the same as one atty so it should even out even if they don't last as long. i'm a huge fan of cartos. michealprater
I just pulled the insert out of a tip on my m402 and started direct dripping and I am getting huge clouds of vapor from a small unit! Cool!
Mac
I have to use cartridges no matter what. I'm a 2 1/2 pack a day smoker, and I'm working on switching to this competely. Actually, I already want to but I didn't order enough cartos on my initial order (still getting used to "carto" "atty" and other terms, sorry). Well, obviously, this means I need to be able to smoke when I want without having to carry out liquid bottles to drip. A carto is equal to about 5 or 6 cigs as well, which is also convenient. I have no idea what, say, three drips of liquid is roughly equal to. I do plan on dripping, absolutely, at home or whenever I'm not very active doing whatever. I'll use a combination of the two different methods. I'm about to place another order for many more cartos and also liquid, and then I'm DONE with the analogs for good! The vapor production with dripping looks nice, but I have to say I'm fine with the carto vapor production as well. However, the stronger taste and throat hit would be nice with the liquid. So let me be sure I've got this right. 1. When a carto is done, take out the fiber and squeeze with napkin to make sure it's drained. 2. Put fiber back in carto. 3. Use liquid to fill carto. I guess I'll have to by trial and error figure out how many drops it takes to "fill" a carto. Obviously don't want to make a mess with it flowing everywhere. With the Magma I also ordered five empty cartos that can be used, but they don't sell the fiber. I saw a "blue foam modding" video, but man alive all that just to refill is a pain. I can also order liquid in stronger strengths. With the Magma the max I can get from either cartos or liquid is 16mg, whereas others offer liquids up to 36mg. As it is I have to almost constantly use it to really replace the analogs, but when I start ordering the stronger liquids from elsewhere (here I assume) then that will change. Again, my apologies for what must appear to be complete stupidity. I've never done this and until I get it all down I'm sure there will be more! That was also a very helpful vid link with the "direct dripping" tutorial.
DAYVAPE
FYI- A "carto" is a cartomizer.... A "cart" is a mouthpiece with filler... I think you may be confusing the two?
