mcquinn
I watch it but don't really follow it ,mostly a good excuse to take naps in my big leather recliner.I can't tell one car from another anymore so it is hard for me to follow or get excited."Back in the day" you could tell Richard Petty by his Petty blue STP car and the models were distinct. Now they all look the same and pretty much have the same paint job/Even Jeff Gordons car doesn't stand out any more. And I miss the its just racing line they used to use when someone stuffed you into the wall for the win,now they just complain about how some idiot who has no business being out there knocked me out of the Chase .Same with the Indy 500 they don't promote it as good as they used to .I didn't even know they were having it this year until it was on. FTJoe
I stopped paying attention after I saw The Intimidator (#3) crash. End of the race and it was such a gentle (relatively) hit I turned to another station. Didn't find find out until the next day he was gone. YayForBeer
I'll watch it from time to time. I was never too into it - I personally believe the cost in gas, and damage done to the environment is really uncalled for in the name of a sport, but that's a different topic I suppose. My Dad is from Florida, and raised my brother to be a fan as well. I've watched many a race with them while growing up, including watching Dale crash and pass away. It always kind of hurt me to see my little brother's eyes well up when they announced they had lost Dale Earnhardt. My brother's bedroom was a shrine to the man, and it took him a while to get over the death of his hero. I think because of that, I willed myself to at least understand the sport. I do watch it, when it's on, and I have nothing else to do. I make an effort to watch the Daytona 500 when I can, as I consider it their pinnacle race, and it's always pretty exciting. ThaHodgehound
I watch it from time to time but I'd rather go racing RC Planes! 4 Planes racing around 3 pylons at 100+ mph is just WAY more fun and the crashes and mid air bumps are awesome!!! Just like nascar....sometimes both planes escape with minimal or no damage, sometimes one crashes and burns while the other keeps racin, AND sometimes they both go down in a crumpled heap of balsa wood!!!! The only bad thing about actually being a pilot that is racing is that you don't get to see it unless your plane is involved!!! Spectators love it tho!!! I'd have to say #3 was my fave....lost interest after his crash tho.

Sad, restraint failure? No way a guy like that goes down cause of that, ruined it for me. Plus I watched it and had no idea, plus he was doing what he always did, if I remember, was blocking someone to make sure his teammate won. ecigg
I tried so many times to like Nascar, but just doesn't suite me I guess. I think they need to let the drivers modify their cars a bit more. There cars are too identical.
Stirfry
i am a hardcore NASCAR guy... i have season tickets to both Bristol Races. However, i don't year all that bright NASCAR gear... but i rarely miss a race. Nationwide series is ok.... but the trucks are almost better than the cup series. i watch ARCA and other series too, those are closer to "old school" racing. i go to local track stock car races too. Thats where the non-nascar fanns need to go, you might like racing more. the races are super short, and there are like 15 of them including all the heat races. i'm a Mark Martin fan, since he was nobody... 20 years, maybe... i even stuck by him through that 5 year Viagra sponsorship, lol. the few friends that didn't make fin of me for liking NASCAR... well, thel sure did when my driver was sponsored by Viagra.
