Seeking The Perfect Vape

Recommended Posts

o.k. I heard on a tutorial video that the "optimum" vaping performance happens when the final wattage is between 10 and 12.

This leaves the standard 510, ego and yes, regular 3.7 mods under performing.

Does anyone have any information or knowledge of this? I do think it makes sense when comparing vaping experience to speak in effective wattage and not just bottery atty combos. GDUBs perfect vape at 6.0v with a 3.2 801 type atty makes sense and came to mind.

I specifically want to know if anyone can verify or has heard about this "optimum" wattage range is between 10 and 12 watts.

Handy wattage calculator (just add your measured OHM and Voltage

So my Tornado with a LR 510 atty is almost there...

POWER: 9.126666666666667

VOLTAGE: 3.7

CURRENT: 2.466666666666667

RESISTANCE: 1.5

That's assuming my Tornado is truely 3.7 volts.

I guess I really need to get a multimeter darnit!

Thanks for the link by the way.

Don't forget, a newly charged ego is 4.2 volts, you will see that puts you in the sweet spot. I am sure you have noticed that fully charged batteries are awesome and you can tell when the battery is about to croak (3.5/3.6ish) so you really spend alot of your battery time over 3.7.

I am about to try a TRULY regulated 5v mod that ONLY gives 5v, that matched with my JOYE 510 at 2.2ohm would put me in the "sweet spot" throughout the entire battery life.

....gonna find that perfect setup one of these days.

You are right... new Tornado battery and a low res atty is the bomb. Glad they don't drop off alot until the end. I still want a true 5v device though... maybe the Buzz?

probably not the Buzz for me. It uses a battery and atomizer I dont have in stock. I know there are adapters but I dont particularly care for them and it is not too hard to screw up a fitting with them.

I have my eye on the Saber Touch. http://vapormoon.com/

It is a truly regulated 5v and a native 510. There have been some sketchy comments made about the maker and the design (like the end caps are repurposed lawn hose caps)

with 20% off, I am really considering taking a stab at it.

Yep, that was another unit I had looked at as well.

Don't know if you have seen this link... but it helped me see what was out there:

I'm liking the sound of the GLV too...

They say that all Joye batteries (eGo included) are throttled down and only deliver 3.1V. There's a pic around here somewhere. However, a regular 3.7V mod actually delivers 3.7V under load. Still not sure I understand all that.

Anyhow, I've been hearing that around 10 watts is the sweet spot for a while. I still think it's a matter personal preference. I've got a spreadsheet that calculates this for all the different volts and atty ohms. Ikenvape have a 3.5 ohm HV atty... that at 6V would put you at 10.3 watts. Also, a 5.2 ohm HV atty (available just about everywhere) at 7.4V (two 3.7v batts) would put you at 10.5 watts. IDK. I've got some 5.0 ohm HV attys that I haven't tried yet. I may try one at 7V on my SB/PT and enercell. That would put me 9.8 watts.

i would like to know how they came to that conclusion about JOYe batts. I know that when I charge one and put it on my mutlimeter, it reads 4.16. I am not sure what load they are referring to, there is the atty resistance and the device resistance. The device resistance is .15, and the atty is 2.2 so effectively, it would be a total resistance of 2.35 or so. Unless there is something that I am missing the wattage is: 7.36

For me a fully charged 3.7 that is putting out 4.2 is really nice. good flavor, which is very important to me and good performance. I do start to lose love for it when the batt hits 3.8ish.

When I came home tonight, I started playing with all sorts of things in the 10 - 12 range. 901 and 801 on 6v, far too harsh for me, even GDub's special sauce didnt give me the flavor satisfaction that I like. I strapped on a LR atty and was clipping about 10.85 (effective) and that was o.k. but lost a bit of inhale flavor.

For sure, everyone is going to have their own preference and mine would be a constant 4.2 that never went below that. Now, I am seriously considering the BUZZ. It seems to be the ONLY device I can find that I may be able to get what I believe my preference.

Imagine my horror, when ONCE AGAIN, I shell out good money on a device that leaves my search for the perfect vape unfulfilled.

Some of these S.O.B mods are gonna wind up on an auction thread....

ahhhh I see what he did.

I bought The Buzz today and part of the kit is a contraption to hook your multimeter up to an atty to measure total wattage. =) They do sell them by themselves, if you want one to call your very own. Its 901 but adapters are easy to get, as you well know.

Call me dense, but I don't understand how to use that??? You have an adapter and an alligator clip. What do you do with it?

I think I figured it out. Came to me in the middle of the night. Odd how the mind works.

The voltage adapter connects to the unit so you can hook up a volt meter easier ( not necessary but it makes life easier ) and set your vaping voltage , this will vary depending on the atomizer , I run a 901 type cortoz @ 5.0 volts running it at 4.5 volts makes a BIG difference IMO.

Also as an atomizer ages and changes you can adjust the voltage to make it perform better. ( until it blows ! LOL ) beer.gif

Anyhow the "Buzz " is continuously adjustable from 3.6 to 6 volts REGULATED so it stays at that voltage ( within 2% ) during the life of the batteries. There is also a Low Battery circuit that cuts the unit OFF when the batteries reach 6 volts total voltage . This keeps you from over discharging the batteries and will increase the lifetime of the batteries and keep you operating in the Safe zone ( no over discharge of the batteries )

I know it is a federal offense to damage a mailbox but is it also a felony to beat up a maiman? Cuz if my Buzz doesnt show up in the mail on Friday...... :fish:
