JamBone Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 hey all, I just wanted to share my first mod with everyone. This is very basic, but it vapes like a king so far and once I add my juice bottle to it when it gets in the mail Im in business(hate filing carts). I chose to go with the atomizer pump bottle with a tube running into the cart, but those will be posted as soon as the bottle gets here. Im using a 14500(900mah) battery and a 4xAA battery box from the shack. The dead space under the atty I threw in a atty holder to carry an extra atty, i used the foam slot the attys were in, in the start kit box. Jambone
Brian Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Nice work! May be a stupid question, but you know about madvapes.com??? I've built one 5v box mod, but have enought parts to make a few more. One of these days I'll make another. The first one was just to see if I could, and it's not real pretty, but it works. I'll take more care with the next one and try to make it look nicer.

Once the bottles get in the mail I will add that in and post the pics of it and I love the atty holder as i dont have to carry an extra case of some sort for my spare! But yes my next box with be bigger and more power!! Edited March 13, 2010 by JamBone
stubear62 Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Good job.. Very impresive.. MadVapes does have a lot of parts..
JamBone Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 stubear62, I agree, they do have a lot of parts and boxes to choose from. I need to get a bigger box for my next one so i can use the bigger battery, but I love the juicebox concept because I hate refilling and changing carts all the time. Glad y'all like it!
Brandon Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Rock and Roll JamBone, very nice for a first mod! I see you're interested in pumping juice. I've heard about this in regards to Carlos' Juice Box Mod, but never really found construction details. Honestly I don't even really understand the concept of how it works. I'm really keen to hear how you go about doing this once you get the rest of your parts. Can you keep us updated on that? At this point I can't even imagine how nice it would be to *not* have to refill or re-drip all the time. So I'm totally intrigued with this!
ddavelarsen Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Nice job JamBone, I'm looking forward to your juicer too! Nice background in those last couple pics.
JamBone Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Yeah, I would be more then happy to keep y'all updated on things, its not going to be just like the carlos JB but something close to it and nothing original on my part but the atty holder. I can also take another pic with the battery out so you can see how it is wired, very basic. Once it is all together it should be pretty easy to see how it operates, but I will also give some details for those who want to try it out as well.
Brian Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Will definatley be interested in how you do the juicer. I've seen it done, but the how-to part of the description was a bit vague.
mcquinn Posted March 14, 2010 Posted March 14, 2010 Be prepared to build a bunch of these ,it gets addictive .After you finish one you think of something you wished you had done different so you build another ,then another.I have four of the boxes and one pipe mod and three passthroughs so far.

JamBone Posted March 22, 2010 Author Posted March 22, 2010 (edited) sorry it has taken so long for me to post back, I just got my bottles in the mail a few days ago and had to get it setup and what not. Well it seems the bottles I order were a little smaller then I thought they were going to be, so needless to say I had to just work with what I had, it works but doesn't look the greatest. But over all for my first mod I am very happy with the out come and the way it vapes, its also great not having to fill the carts or change them out. I have been using it for almost 2 days now and only had 2 flood problems because I didn't have enough filler in the cart to act as a buffer and I was pumping the crap out of it because it didn't look like anything was pumping into the cart. I will give some details on this one if you guys really want them, if the bottle was bigger then it would work the way I want it to but as for now I have to open the box to pump. JamBone EDIT: Now that I know what i did wrong in this mod I can only hope my next one will be better, I will post them as I start/finish them and any ideas on what can be done better would be great. Brian Posted March 22, 2010 Posted March 22, 2010 Would absolutely like more details! That's awesome!
nana Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Congratulations! It works, that's all that matters right now. We always learn from our mistakes, so this is a good thing. Right? I think you're on the right track and you'll soon get it exactly the way you want. Good job!

My first mod was also my first time soldering (other than re-attaching a single wire from time to time on my kids toys), so you can just imagine how it looks! BUT IT WORKS! Brandon Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 Oh wow, I think it's just beautiful. In my house it wouldn't have a very high SAF (spouse acceptance factor) but for me personally it's just so fantastic looking. Love that the juice tube is visable! That somehow seems to add to the mystique of it. Fantastic work! And yes, we'd love to learn more
JamBone Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 Thanks everyone, Im glad y'all like it and Im glad I actually got it to work. The idea isnt original but has been a blast working on and cant wait to make another. Here is a run down of how I made it if you have any questions feel free to ask. JamBone Well grab what material you want to us and plan out what you want out of it and picture how everything will fit and rip out what needs to come out to make room. The wiring was pretty easy, just run your red wire(positive ) from the positive battery lead to one of the button/switch terminals, then from the other terminal of the button to the inside center of the battery connecter(make sure you don’t cover the little hole inside the battery connecter). Then run the neg. wire from the neg. terminal to the inner wall making sure not to touch the bottom or the positive wire. The placement of the battery is up to the modder and the materials they are using, after my first box mod I realize you want the battery as close to the atty as possible and if your going for a juicebox have your bottle on the side of the box and not in the center, makes for easy pumping with a small notch cut out(going to try it out on my next build). When you get your bottles, get a few different sizes so your not stuck with a bottle that’s to small. I used fish tank hose for the tube and all I had to seal it with super glue(I know I know not the greatest idea but it works for now). I just found a drill bit the size of the tube and drilled out holes in the box and the cart, try for a slight up angel drilling into the cart towards the mouth piece. The tube was to big for the atomizer pumps neck so I had to take the spray nozzle cap that shoot the stream out when pressed and cut out the outer part so all that was left was the part that snaps onto the atomizer pump neck and work that into the tube and snapped it on(NOTE DRILL A HOLE THROUGH THE CENTER BEFORE CUTTING). To hole the battery connecter in place I used a little epoxy putty and it seems to be hold up very well! The spare atty holder is a life saver and almost the best part about the mod, it comes in very handy! Battery size is pretty much determined on the size of the box or material you are using, so before you start buying batteries, boxes and bottles find out dimensions of the three.
ddavelarsen Posted March 23, 2010 Posted March 23, 2010 ...it wouldn't have a very high SAF (spouse acceptance factor) ... Oh man! That's the word I've been looking for!!! In my house I don't have a very high SAF.
JamBone Posted March 23, 2010 Author Posted March 23, 2010 lol, I have a pretty high SAF in my house, she dont tell me no very often, I guess i got lucky! Most mods should be pretty SAF friendly as long as you dont do it mod in there area you should be fine. Oh and most important of all, keep as little of a mess around you as possible, it makes the mod build a little longer but it keeps them at bay...
