Found The Sweet Spot!

Recommended Posts

Ever since I got the VP-PT, I've been looking for a portable version. Once you have the beautiful 5v wonder, it's hard to settle for anything less. All the 6v units burned the juice and tasted like crap. A new supposed 5v unit I got is a HUGE disappointment (video coming soon). So here is the secret: high voltage atty! I got some hv 510 attys from eastmall, popped 2 RCR123A batts in the Indulgence, and it is amazing! Pure heaven, boys and girls! :icecream:

From my calculations, the current is slightly less than a 5v unit with a standard atty but for some reason, the experience is nearly the same.

Just thought I would share this with all the poor souls that own a VP-PT and long for a pocket size version.

Yep, should be getting 8 watts. Oddly, that's kinda what I've been thinking would be my sweet spot. Was planning to try that myself. Thanks man - guess I gotta get some CR123A (Tenergy, of course) for my BSB and some 4.5ohm HV Atty's.

Now that sounds like what I've been looking for! A portable 5v is what I'm needing. Or...maybe just wanting...but nonetheless....I think I may have to add this one to the list.

Can't wait to find out which one I need to avoid. :dribble:

Dr J - you had to get the additional cup for $20 to use 6v, right? So really you're looking at $80 + $15 shipping?

Yep. I got the extended cup but I got it with the 18650 battery. I found out the cups are the same but they just include either 2 RCR123As or 1 18650. Since I didn't have an 18650, I decided that was the way to go. But you can get either one and they work with either battery set.

I also picked up the USB adapter and I have to say, it performs just as well as the VP-PT. It did throw an error when I plugged it into the computer so it doesn't work there. But I plugged it into the wall adapter that came with the VP-PT and it works great! The cord is really short, though.

The total cost was $106.70 + $15.00 shipping = $121.70

You can go to a computer or office store and buy a usb extension cable ,they are the bomb ,you don't have sit next to an outlet that way.The thing about high voltage atty's was discussed in detail in the string " Watts Rate Topic: "
