Why The Internet Will Fail

"Just came across this article from Newsweek in 1995. It lists all the reasons the internet will fail. My two favorite parts:

The truth in no online database will replace your daily newspaper, no CD-ROM can take the place of a competent teacher and no computer network will change the way government works.

Yet Nicholas Negroponte, director of the MIT Media Lab, predicts that we’ll soon buy books and newspapers straight over the Intenet. Uh, sure.

but I do agree, most people laughed when we referred to the "internet highway" taking over. In 78 my friend was a computer operator working for DECASR which was a government defense administration office here in the SF bay area. I was amazed with the room filled with a giant computer and the disk drives were like a large cake container and weighed about 20 pounds.

VERY funny. But then, we had more competent teachers back then. LOL Okay okay, I'm kidding

I was never a big newspaper reader tho, I actually read more on the internet than I ever did the paper version. Although it did line the birdcages much better!
