New Vaper Here! Seeking Beginner-Friendly Device & E-Liquid Advice

Hello Vapor Talk community!

My name’s Exbrill (you can call me big E!), and I’m excited to join this forum. I recently switched to vaping as an alternative to smoking and am still figuring things out. The world of mods, coils, and e-liquids feels a bit overwhelming, but I’m eager to learn from all of you!

My Current Setup:
I’ve been using the Raz LTX25000 disposable vape for the past week. It’s been a hassle-free start—I love the fruity flavors and the no-maintenance aspect. However, I’m concerned about the long-term cost (and environmental impact) of disposables. I’d like to transition to a refillable device that’s beginner-friendly but still delivers good flavor.

Questions for the Pros:

  1. Device Recommendations:

    • What’s a reliable starter kit or pod system for someone moving from disposables? I’ve heard about the Vaporesso XROS 3 and Uwell Caliburn series—are these good options?
    • How important is adjustable airflow or wattage for a newbie?
  2. E-Liquid Suggestions:

    • I enjoy sweet/fruity flavors (the Raz’s mango ice was a hit!). Any brands or specific flavors you’d recommend for a smooth, non-harsh throat hit?
    • What nicotine strength should I start with? I used to smoke half a pack a day.
  3. Tips & Pitfalls:

    • What’s the #1 mistake new vapers make that I should avoid?
    • Any must-know maintenance tips for refillable devices?

I’m also curious about reputable online vendors (I’m in the U.S.) and whether certain flavors or devices work better for specific preferences.

Thank you all in advance! I’m looking forward to being part of this community and eventually paying it forward once I’ve learned the ropes. Feel free to drop links to threads, YouTube tutorials, or even your favorite setup!

Hi, welcome to Vapor Talk.

Both the Vaporesso and Caliburn units are good ones, it's hard to say which is "best" because it all depends on what works for you and what you like. Try the one that "you" think might be better for you.

If you're not into throat hit, I'd go for something with more VG (vegetable glycerin) than PG (propylene glycol) in the mix. Also, more nicotine will give you a harsher throat hit. My preference was 60 VG/40 PG, but you might like more VG. The bakery flavors and non-citrus types of flavors might be to your liking.

Overall, the number one tip I would give is to be patient while you're trying new things. Read through the threads on this forum, the comments from others are very enlightening. Most of all, have fun on your journey away from cigarettes!
