Kinda stupid question but do out PV's set of smoke alarms? I know it is not smoke but still it has worried me ..

What would we do if they came up with Vapor Alarms lol

IT DOES SET THEM OFF!! GLAD I KNEW THIS BEFORE GOING TO THAILAND FOR CHINESE NEW YEAR! it would be bad to set one of in the lavatory

I would think it depends on the type of alarm. I thought most smoke alarms use some pretty funky technology to detect smoke. Also, if you practice, you'll see you can hold your breath and no/little vapor will come out. Also, I see people on planes get a blanket and crawl under it to smoke, same concept, hold it in.

Most "smoke alarms" are actually particle detectors. If there is a noticeable change in the air it will set the alarm off.

So yes, vapor will set off a smoke alarm.

good to know before i head to the toilet on booked trip full capacity lol

I will be under a blanket aaaaallllll the way lol

When I fly I go into the bathroom and vape with no problem, BUT I'll blow the vapor into my shirt. That's usually good enough...well at least I haven't set anything off yet

Excellent idea. I am surprised it would set anything off as I was thinking what particles are in vapor?

I vape on airplanes all the time. In the bathroom and even in my seat. I usually book night flights and red-eyes so I can stealth vape without getting up. But this started me thinking about bathroom smoke detectors. If they are ionization type, then they detect particles in smoke which vapor would not trigger. If they are optical type, it's highly unlikely that they would be triggered by vapor either. JAMCO is one of the top manufactures of airline lavatory detectors and they use a combination of ionization detectors and heat sensors. So it's very unlikely that vapor would ever set one off.

I just tried using my 7V unit vaping directly into an ionization smoke detector with no result. Smoke and vapor are two different things. It's the difference between steam and smoke basically.

I wouldn't vape directly into the smoke detector but you can rest assured that you will not set the thing off vaping.

I've accidentally set off the smoke detector in my apartment when heavily vaping, so yes, it is possible. However, this was with our VG juice, so PG, that produces less vapor, might not do this. Granted, I was HEAVILY vaping, and this hasn't happened before or since, so it seems unlikely under normal circumstances.
