Darrin
can you ruin the battery by putting it in the charger backwards? i got my spade earlier this week and put one of the batteries in the charger. I noticed yesterday that it was in backwards so flipped it around. put it in the spade this morning and it worked okay, but by the time i got to work it was dead so now i am vape less for the day... i dont think there is any place nearby that i could pick up a battery PS: well grabbed my work computer and decided to work from home, otherwise i wouldnt be having a great day the other battery still works good. i either killed the battery or it was bad to begin with Edited January 29, 2010 by Darrin
Jeffb
Hi Darrin, If you reverse the connection of the battery charger you will discharge the battery. You may be able to correct the problem by putting the battery in correctly to charge it properly, or the battery may be ruined.

nana
thanks Jeff, think i ruined the battery oh well I have one that works, and will try to find a place that sells them. probably not super easy to find, perhaps at a camera store You can order them here: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.30788 It takes a couple of weeks to get them, but they are a good price. I have at least 6 batteries for each unit and plan on getting some more. I like having the extras.
nana
Almost forgot... Or... You can get them here: http://www.madvapes.com/Details.aspx?itemId=MVLBAT10440.350 They cost a bit more, but you could get them faster. It looks like he only has 8 on hand though, so you might want to move quickly if you want them right away.
FTJoe
thanks Jeff, think i ruined the battery oh well I have one that works, and will try to find a place that sells them. probably not super easy to find, perhaps at a camera store I don't know if the charger is a smart charger, but I know with rechargables, sometimes the charger just won't charge the battery if it's "too dead". I've gotten around this in the past, by taking a fully charged battery, putting it next to the dead battery, then basically connecting them together in parallel for a minute or so. Trickles in enough charge to get the battery considered healthy enough to charge by the charger. If I find an article, I'll post it. I've brought many back this way. I've heard rumors that walmart sells 10440s...unprotected I'm sure. Edited January 29, 2010 by FTJoe
Brian
And those chargers can be a little tricky so make sure when you put it in that it does go red and does eventually go green after an hour or two. I would definately try to charge that battery again. Edited January 29, 2010 by Brian

Darrin
my second battery seems to be working fine... the one that i might have fried is still sitting in the charger, and has been green the full time.. going to go down and give it a try.. update: nope, got a light for less than a puff and then the battery went dead again almost scared to recharge the other Edited January 30, 2010 by Darrin
Brian
Back to the "tricky charge" - sometime even with my best effort to place the battery in correctly, it's be green as soon as I plug it in. Most of the time I have to turn the battery a little to make it go red. You've probably already tried that, but I just hate to think you lost a battery so soon. Darrin
well will give it a try.. the other battery stopped working so need to try and charge it well put it in the charger and did have to adjust it a little and the light went red... that MIGHT be the issue with the other one good thing for spares Edited January 30, 2010 by Darrin
nana
Those chargers can be a real pain with the Spade batteries. I had a terrible time at first getting them in there just right. Turning them, wiggling them, etc., makes a big difference. It took awhile sometimes to get the red light. I don't quite as hard of a time now, but it can still take some work. Good luck. I hope that's your problem and not a bad battery.

ddavelarsen
Wow, being so delinquent in the forum I got to read the whole story from frustration to nirvana! I lead a charmed life, and so does Darrin. I'm glad you got that figured out and that your battery wasn't killed by the reversed input. This is all good info I'm packing away in my short-term memory...
