j3000 Posted January 24, 2010 Share Posted January 24, 2010 Okay here is the problem I got a 510 and today I took a piece of tolet paper and tried to clean the atty and this black like charcoal stuff came out fo I picked it all out. now I get this bad taste in my mouth every time I vape I can also see the metal wick inside the atty Should it be metal. Thank you for your time I'm not an expert...don't even play one on TV...but I'm wondering if maybe you pulled the mesh off the bridge in the atty. That appears to be black to me. If so, so of that may have fallen down onto the "hot" part of the atty and you're getting a taste of that being burnt. I'm sure Chris or someone with more knowledge will chime in on this. Brian Posted January 24, 2010 Share Posted January 24, 2010 The mettal mesh bridge is what you see when looking into the atty. From that bridge there is a fiber wick that runs down onto the coil. I could be wrong, but it sounds like the wick may have been fried. If the remaining pieces became detatched from the bridge and are laying fully on the coil, that may be buring up. Like Lee, I'm no expert. Hopefully someone will be able to help you. I've never heard of this happening so it'll be interesting to find out. Christopher Posted January 25, 2010 Share Posted January 25, 2010 If your starting to get black stuff coming out of the atomizer it sounds like you've been using it for a while. Remember atomizers are disposable and shouldn't only be used for about 4-6 weeks at most. When you say bad taste do you mean taste dull and flavorless? If so then it may need cleaned. Does it taste like metal? Then it could be what we call a "partial burn" which means the coil is damaged and isn't heating up the way it should be.
