So What Should I Expect?

So what should I expect from my e-cig when it arrives???? I have never tried this and I want to use this to replace my KOOLs. I understand that the taste will not be the same, but what about the feel?? That is my real concern because it is vapor and not smoke will it feel similar enough to the real thing to keep me from wanting that KOOL?? I ask because that is what I love about smoking. What I don't like about smoking is waking up after a night of drinking and debauchery and feeling like an elephant is sitting on my chest. A little more info I what I ordered - Volcano e-cig and halo COOL "juice" (supposed to be like my beloved KOOL.

It's not going to feel or taste exactly like you're smoking a KOOL. Hopefully what it will do is give you an acceptable alternative. For me I have tried quitting with the gum, the patch, even mild anti-depressants, none of them worked out for me, ultimately because I too enjoyed the act of smoking itself. Replacing that with vaping was a perfect alternative for me. It will take a little getting used to, but as most people here will tell you eventually you will come to prefer the experience of vaping over smoking.

Thanks I mean I knew that it won't be exactly like smoking but as long as it is similar I am sure it will work. After searching a little bit I have found that I guess what I am worried about is what is called the "throat hit" I assume that is the feeling you get when you inhale correct? I have read that the volcano has an exceptional "throat hit" thanks for the input

Yeah throat hit is that tickle in your throat. The juice you use will also contribute to the throat hit. If you find that the volcano isn't cutting it for you check out either a 510 or 801 penstyle. Also as others mentioned a high voltage mod will make a dramatic difference. My 5V VP-PT can make me cough if I hit it too hard.

If you're using menthol juice, I think you'll get the throat hit you want. Vapor is very much like smoke in that it feels and looks like it, but different in that it is a much lighter, cleaner feel. Since you already smoke, you know how to do this, but there are some slight differences. With vaping you take longer, slower drags than you do with smoking. Some people recommend pulling all the vapor into your mouth before inhaling and that seems to work well. But it doesn't work well for others. It will be a trial and error thing for you, like it has been for everyone. Just ask any questions you have and someone will have the answer. In the mean time, take it slow and easy and don't try to push yourself too hard and you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Most of us agree there is a learning curve associated with switching from analogs to vaping. It was helpful for me to watch some of the review videos to learn how to do it. You take long, shallow draws rather than deep, quick drags on an analog. Think of it more like using a soda straw. You will most likely cough a bit at first. That's normal as your lungs get use to inhaling a liquid vapor rather than smoke. Remember how you coughed when you first started smoking? It's a similar thing but it goes away very quickly just like when you started smoking regularly.

One of the things that takes some getting use to is that there isn't a time limit on vaping like their is on smoking. You may vape a bit more than you smoked analogs. I personally miss the smell of analogs, too.Like I said, it takes some getting use to but once you are into it, it's just the most relaxing experience.

Most people stop using analogs at all within the first 2-3 days. My dad and brother both just started vaping and never picked another analog up again. If you have an analog every now and again, don't beat yourself up. Vaping is a safer smoking alternaive and that's the way you have to think about it. If you say to yourself that you are never going to ever have another analog, that is mentally too difficult. Just take your time and get use to vaping.

My advice, take it easy, get use to vaping and you will never regret it.

As I understand it vaping is different for everyone. My experience is great. I smoked for 42 years (and heavy). I have tried quitting many times and tried EVERYTHING(patches, gum, hypnosis, pills and anything you can think of). From the moment that I picked up my 510 for the first time I knew that this was it. For 3 weeks now I haven't even wanted an anolog and that is a first for me. My son and wife also started vaping at the same time and we all agree that there is no reason to ever buy another pack.....BTW I sent an email to the Canadian Cancer Society and asked their opinion. they said" that they have not tested them and referred my to the FDA and Canada health websites BUT her PERSONAL opinion was that if this is what it takes for me to quit then do it

Good luck and enjoy

You will love vaping--it is everything we love about smoking without all the things we hate. I had quit quitting and tried e-cigs hoping I could cut down. My last cigarette was the day after my 510 arrived and I haven't looked back.

I just wish we would have had these years ago !!!

even though the vapor isn't 'smoke'-it feels very much the same, but much, much better.

Let us know what you think when you get your volcano....

What she said...

Also, menthol is tough, I say the best ones (IMO) are VaporTalk, Janty, awesomevapor, wordup and ecopure are pretty good and I like Johnson Creek (cool little background taste with them). I never got into the Cherry, soda, etc. but some people go that route instead of trying to find the exact taste. I went to zero nic so I had some samples around but they're pretty much gone now.

I had ordered a No.7 disposable e-cig and I just got it today and I have heard nothing but bad things about these and it is doing ok. I have heard nothing but good things about the Volcano so hopefully it will do the job.

I was going to ask whether you smoke full flavor or light Kools, but it sounds like that may be moot. Lights smokers can probably live with normal-voltage e cigs but in my experience, higher voltage is more like the TH I was getting from my analogs. If they made 12V units, that's what I'd be into... :D But I also think strong menthol juice can help with the TH.

IT not the same. But like everyone here I useto smoke 2 to 3 packs of cigs a day. A very heavy smoker. And I was scared to death to quite just the thought of quiting in the past would give me a panic attack. In fact I would try the patch, the gum, medications you name it. And I would smoke more on those then without them.

But with the help of the e-cig quitting was alot easier. It took a month to completely quite. And if you have a cig. in between so what. Have one or two or three. who cares. But before you reach for the analog cigs. Take a few hits off your e-cig and what 1 minute or 2 then if you need a analog cig have it. Ths is the method I used and I found my self reaching less for the analog cig.

Well good luck and this forum is alot of help in quitting..
