Hello All,

This is my first post on any E-Cig forum. I am brand new to Vaping, I smoked Analoges for 15 years, got my first ecig 5 days ago and havent had an analog since. Still having strong urges for an analog, but am holding strong.

Picked up a manual 510 from cigtechs, blackhawk model if that makes a differance. I also picked up a single bottle of orange cream RothJuice from cigtechs and a sample pack of juice from JohnsonsCreek. My preferance is the JohnsonsCreek flavors thus far (to be fair i have only tried one from cigtech), but i find that JohnsonsCreek is harsher on my throat. when i exale, i tend to want to cough, i havent experianced that nearly as much with the roth juice. The roth juice is a lower dose nicotine, i think 11mg, and the Johnsons creek was 18mg. Am i coughing because of the higher nicotine? or is it just a brand thing? I cant say that i feel a differance in my cravings for an anolog reguardless of which dose i am vaping.

has anyone else experianced this? If so, what brands do you find to be smoother?

Is this sort of an aclimation period, where my throat needs to adjust to vapor instead of smoke?

Any thoughts on this are welcome.

Thanks in advance!!

Throat hit (that tickle that makes you cough) is generally associated with the nicotine content, so yes the higher nicotine juices tend to deliver more throat hit. As far as the acclimation period is concerned, vaping will dry out your throat, and some people find that the PG based liquids irritate their throats more than the VG based ones. It's really just some trial and error for the most part. Just stick with it and eventually you'll find the products that suit you the best.

You could probably help your cravings if you up the dose to 24mg.

I'll second that. Don't know how much you smoked, but I had to get up to 48mg before I got comfortable. Not recommended but that works for me.

Part of the coughing response is because your body is trying to clear the old residue from your lungs from smoking analogs. You are in the process of getting rid of the old tar and other by-products of inhaling combusted material into your lungs, which you don't get from vaping. And I agree that your craving is the result of not getting as much nicotine as your body is used to getting. I swap between 36mg and 24mg juices. I know that the throat hit I get first thing in the morning is a little harsher than it is later in the day.

Good luck, and welcome to vaping.

Welcome to vaping and to Vapor Talk.

It looks like you're questions have been answered, so I won't add to that. If you have any other questions, ask away.

Good luck!!

Welcome!! Yes, a couple of weeks to get used to it. Lee is right on about your body finally getting a chance to get rid of a bunch of stuff. I went through all sorts of weirdness never being sure what was due to vaping or not. Feel fantastic now!!!

I would say if you still have a strong urge you might indeed have to bump up the nic. Having said that, I found with myself that most of the urge was mental but I did need to have a blast of nic else I became crabby. In other words, your brain knows that smoking gets you want it wants, vaping is a substitute and makes the addicted brain happy. If you deprive it of the required nicotine, I don't think the brain really knows that is happening so you wouldn't feel the effects of the nicotine withdrawal as an urge to smoke, more as symptoms of withdrawal, crabby, headaches, etc. But what do I know, I'm not a doctor, I only play one on TV... ;-) Is there something fundamentally different about smoking and vaping for you that you can pinpoint? Smoke is not hot, not enough, doesn't feel like smoke, don't get the massive drag you used to? Taste was very important to me being a menthol smoker.

Try the VaporTalk juices, I used Mentha, I hear many love the others as well. By the way, the coughing if due to nicotine is prized by most as it is one of the triggers that makes the brain think it is smoking, I'm at 0 nic so I'm out of luck. :-( Remember, if you get a 24/36 and it's too much, you can cut by mixing with a lower strength.

Wow, Thanks everyone for the quick responces and encouragement. Im going to bump up the nic, but mix with 0 or 11mg if the throat hit becomes to much.

Thanks for the Help!!!
