krix66 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Is it dangerous to use kanthal and stainless steel? If not. I have a stainless steel alien v2. Do you think wrapping it in kanthal would decrease rampup time?
leadpipe58 Posted December 16, 2017 Posted December 16, 2017 Hello Krix There is no problem using different coiling wire. Kanthal is not the way to go. SS and nicrome have the least resistance. We will need some information to help. What mod are you using at what wattage?what kind of build do you use? Ohms size number of wraps and gauge and type of wire. All these things make a difference. A lower ohm build will ramp up quicker and will put a larger load on the battery, shorter battery life. I like to stay around .2 +-.05 fussed Clapton's. There more to know then just twisting wire. Ask away. Walt 1
krix66 Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 I'm using prebuilt alien V2s made of SS. H-atty rda and eleaf istick power 80w. Maxed out watts first hit or two has an absurd 2 1/2 3 second ramp time, ramps immediately after I warm it up though, how can I fix this?
krix66 Posted December 19, 2017 Author Posted December 19, 2017 Oh, and coils are rated by shop to be .25s and equal .17 together
Walt Posted December 19, 2017 Posted December 19, 2017 I'm not entirely sure without actually playing around with the build but you might need a more powerful mod. .17Ω in a beefy SS coil might just heat up pretty slowly with 80W applied.
