netpez
Hey all! I have had the Crown (not crown 2) subtank for about 8 months. Everything started off well, and I was very satisfied with the product. During the course of the last couple months however, I have had an increase in 2 issues. The first issue is an increase in burning the coils. Just to note, I have been vaping the same juice flavors as I did when I started, and I do break in my coils (0.5) by starting off at 30 and eventually working my way up to 50 watts. I have heard of some people believing that the cotton is too tightly packed, causing the wicking to become a bit more inefficient. Not sure, but damn you can't get that taste out of your mouth. My 2nd issue has been with leaking. This has become very frustrating. After thoroughly cleaning my tanks (usually after 2 weeks use), and replacing the coil, I go through the process of priming the coils, and then filling them (only about 75%), and usually leave them overnight to fully prime. I will say that over the past month or so, about 35-45% of these instances have come back to half the juice leaked into the base. Please note, that I firmly tighten these coils the same way since day 1. Does anyone know if manufacturing of these coils has changed in anyway in the past 2-3 months? There is obviously something different about the coils now versus when I started. My wife and I both vape, and each have 3 crowns, so the waste is starting to become very expensive, when this issue happens so frequently. Again, from our side nothing has changed since we started with this product in terms of juices, and methods to clean, change coils and prime. I have even changed o-rings to see if that is the issue, but clearly in terms of the leaking, there is no changeable o-ring where the coil screws into the base, and that appears to be where the leaking is occurring. I really loved this product when initially using it, but lately I am considering moving to another product.
Bebop
Sounds suspiciously like knock off coils with no other changes. Have you changed the source for your coils?
netpez
Nope... order them direct from UWELL..
netpez
The only thing I can think of is the manufacturing of the coils has changed in some way. It would be a shame if this tank's downfall is faulty coils, as it was a great tank in the beginning.
Bebop
Well then, you may have it. It wouldn't surprise me if there is some manufacturing difference. Companies will often do that - change suppliers when volume ramps up and suddenly they need 100x the quantities or cotton or wire. Maybe they are outsourcing manufacturing or changing machines to get more volume etc. there could be a few factors involved.
Foofightervapegirl
okay,I think the cotton is packed too tight, and you are having wicking issues, crown is infamous for this.this is what works for me,I have the crown mini and crown 2.the crown mini runs on crown coils.before I prime the coil,I take a small safety pin,and pierce all of the wicking ports before I prime,my coils last a heck of alot longer and can handle pure vg.the key is a *small* pin or safety pin,you use to thick a pin and you're going to flood that coil and possibly your tank, fast! netpez
Yeah.. I figured it was packed to much.... any ideas on the leakage issues with coils recently? I think I am just gonna switch... I have had my eye on a new alien kit with a big baby anyway....
Foofightervapegirl
I just bought crown coils last month,I don't remember where though.I didn't have either issue.now I have to stab every single crown 2 coil I buy,or it's dead in less than a day!as for the leaking,if the coil is not wicking well,I would think the juice not wicking has to go somewhere...maybe?kinda scatching my head on that,I've never really had a leaking issue,I had a few minor issues with the crown 2,but a new o ring solved it.my crown mini does not leak at all,but I've only had it since october. Squid
The leaking may be oring related. I have recently run into a leaking issue with my subtank plus. I noticed a few bubbles one day coming from the bottom of the tank around the oring. I would love to find some orings, to replace them, but even Kanger's site does not list them. The orings rub every time you open the tank, over time a little wear will occur even if the orings are lubed up with juice, they could be the culprit.
