themegal
Hey friends, I have a quick question. An acquaintance of mine tossed a few batteries at me the other day, saying he didn't need them anymore. Written on it in sharpie says Purple EFest, thought they oobviously don't have the original purple insulator. It seems they could have been rewrapped with a new clear insulator, but i am unsure. Figured a second pair of eyes could help this newbie out. -sincerely someone who is paranoid about having her hand blown off.
FXRich
I don't know why some people rewrap batteries, Personally I would toss them. If you want to use them, it would depend on the mod you have and what wattage you run at. If you use a mech mod defiantly toss them. I have a hand-me-down kangertech box mod usually running around 50 watts if that makes a difference.
Christopher
If you're using high volt/watt don't chance it. Your medical bills will be a lot higher than the cost of some new high quality batteries
Tam
If it were me, I'd toss them and buy a new battery. It's not worth taking the chance of becoming the newest story on the news about a battery malfunction.

Bebop
Rewrapping a battery is not so uncommon. It could be innocent. I have one mod that is hard on the wrap and I wrapped them because the mod had caused a tear in the wrapping. Since the wrapping is absolutely key to the battery not shorting out, it is safer to rewrap the battery than to continue using a damaged wrap. having said that, I, of course know the history of the battery so I consider it personally safe to do. However since it is not your battery originally it's probably safer to just replace it.
FXRich
In my opinion Its really not that safe to run a single new purple Efest at that wattage. You didn't mention if you use a Kanger single, or a dual battery mod. It would be safer to use them in a dual battery mod. The thing about the kanger mods is they will quit working if the battery is not a good battery and will shut down before blowing up.
