Kevo88 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Today I'm running my first ever obstacle course run. It's the wipe out run at US Cellular Field, and I am really stoked! This is going to be a warm up/prep race to get ready for the Jack axe race that I'm competing in next month. Any last minute advice would be much appreciated! jasonculp 1
Earthling789 Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Wow, sounds like fun! Stretch well, stay limber, and good luck!
Kevo88 Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 Thanks Earthling! It should be tons of fun. They modelled the course after the wipe out tv show. Complete with tiny bridges across pools, giant swinging pendulums, and big padded beams trying to knock you off kilter.
rainbowtears Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 That's cool, didn't know the cell was having anything like that. Enjoy
Kevo88 Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 Will probably be more exciting than a Sox game, and that's coming from a Sox fan.
cesar Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Don't eat before the race... instead build up your calories 24 hours before the start, and then have a light breakfast. Also make sure that you are properly hydrated, and good luck mate.
Kevo88 Posted July 25, 2015 Author Posted July 25, 2015 Crap, I just killed a bowl of rice lol. cesar 1
cesar Posted July 25, 2015 Posted July 25, 2015 Crap, I just killed a bowl of rice lol.I probably going to " pro " about it... just have a light breakfastI will drink plenty of water the day before though, you need to be well hydrated or you will find the race hard. Doh! You said today... well, rice is ok..and if you have time drink plenty of water..just not two hours before the race..you need to go to the toilet to empty the tanks.
Kevo88 Posted July 26, 2015 Author Posted July 26, 2015 Thanks for all of the advice guys! The run went great. I finished pretty quickly, and with plenty of gas in the tank. Cesar, thank you for the pre race diet advice! I'm running a much more competitive course next month, with a pretty large cash prize, so this is exactly the info I need to be at the top of my game. cesar 1
