GeorgeF Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 The major problem I see with this article, what nic level are they referring to? If it was 0mg, what is the big deal. It is no more harmful than if these teens bought all ingredients needed without nic and mixed their own liquid. Teens can get their hands on life ending drugs just as easy. The other major flaw with the article is how did they pay for it. Most funding sights like Paypal require additional funding i.e. bank checking account. Last I knew you needed to be 18 to get a credit card or checking account. If teens 14-17 have bank accounts it is the fault of the banks and parents for letting it happen. Opening a bank account requires age verification and SS number. Online vendor due have age verification, albeit not the hardest to get around, just click over 18 and your on the site. But once your on the site you can add items to your cart and then check out as long as you have a credit card to purchase the products. Actually the way I see it kids can get credit cards. Why don't the states go after the credit card companies that have gift cards. They are just like credit cards, add a balance and it works just like a credit card. It doesn't matter what age the holder is.
Earthling789 Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Our company use to give out American Express gift cards to interns as a "pat on the back". I brought it up to HR many years ago, that these 16-18 yr olds couldn't get an AMEX on their own at that age, and we were promoting (or at least enabling) underage purchases online by giving them gift cards that could be used as CC (and re-loaded like any pre-paid CC that would otherwise require age-verification). HR agreed, and after that, they received actual (taxable) income, or corporate-logo merchandise. We don't even give out Amazon or Wal-mart gift cards to anyone under 21, just in case they were to use it to purchase something "adult". jasonculp, Tam and GeorgeF 3
T-Bone Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Heya, I said this in another post before...but a lot of this anti-vaping propaganda seems to come from the greater Carolinas area. That's Big Tobacco country. I say this because, here in Mass, vaping is hardly ever in the news. GeorgeF 1
Mirage Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Heya, I said this in another post before...but a lot of this anti-vaping propaganda seems to come from the greater Carolinas area. That's Big Tobacco country. I say this because, here in Mass, vaping is hardly ever in the news. You would not believe how much this crap is in the news around here in NC!!! It makes me sick to my stomach sometimes... It also worries me a lot. You should hear how people around here talk about us vapers... It like we have the plague or something...
T-Bone Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Idiotic pap for the sheep. They can't advertise cigarettes, so tear down the alternative. I would be very interested to know where the funding/sources for these smear articles come from. HOOKER 1
HOOKER Posted March 3, 2015 Author Posted March 3, 2015 Bigg tobacco has the bucks ta spend & will do almost anything to make sure their livelyhood aint taken away... JohnnyFog Posted March 4, 2015 Posted March 4, 2015 I'm just waiting for the guvment to start finding ways to tax this stuff. I'm really amazed that it's not already in place. Especially here in NC. Big Tobacco here in NC and Virginia is already in the game. VUSE is an RJ Reynolds product. These guys will be in on the game and these products are available in about any convenient store you walk in around here. VUSE, Blu, Mark Ten, and several others I see regularly. My estimations: 1. In time, you won't be able to buy e-juices online just like you can't buy cigarettes online. 2. There will be state and federal taxes involved in the purchase of e-juices. 3. Manufacturers of e-juices will become regulated to death and the cost of e-juices, even though I believe they are already too high, will get even higher. 4. Liquid Nicotine solutions for making homemade e-juices will become taxed and regulated as well, making it more difficult and costly to make the product.
