swansoup
The currently purchased Cuttwood Boss Reserve. I can’t get this juice not to burn. I have my wattage on the lowest setting of 5 watts with a 1.6 ohm coil and Boss Reserve Stills burns. The juice they leaks out the side of my tank air hole. I don’t have this problem with sugar bear so I don’t think the 70VG/30PG is a problem with my tank. Have any of you vapors experienced this issue with Boss Reserve. I think it’s just horrible juice. I would appreciate your experience with Boss reserve Thanks
Tug
What kind of tank are you using?
Tug
Not all tanks wick a high VG juice well.
Tug
We need more info than just your coil resistance.
swansoup
Okay no problem I am using the nautilus tank
swansoup
I am using Cuttwood Sugar Bear in my nautilus tank right now Sugar Bear vapes at 8 watts no problem It has the same vg/pg ratio 70/30 as Boss Reserve This is what I don’t understand why is Boss Reserve burning at 5 watts Thanks
Tug
Have you tried swapping out the coil for a fresh one? Are you using BDC or BVC coils?
Tug
Most of the time its a faulty coil that causes the leaking. With a high VG chain vaping will cause a burnt taste because a thicker juice can't wick as efficiently in a clearomizer like the Nautilus
Tug
Give your tank a good cleaning and put a fresh coil in it.That should take care of it,maybe try sticking with a 50/50 blend.
swansoup
I am using BVC coils I tried a new coil also. It burns after a few hits. Thanks
swansoup
I think its Boss Reserve I used the same coil that was just burning Boss reserve and switched to Sugar with no issues I tried a new coil the other day and the same result. swansoup
The bvc coils I have are the old style ones with the small holes. Maybe these coils are not providing enough juice. I don’t know!!!! I will try my RDA when I get a chance. Thanks
Tug
Are you priming your coils with a few dry puffs first? You need to give it time to soak up the juice before firing it when you put a new coil in.I put a drop or two on the coil before I screw it on. Tug
Put your finger over the airholes and give it a few puffs until you see bubbles come out of the coil holes
Tug
Actually the BVC coils are the new coils for the Nautilus, the BDC (Bottom Dual Coil) are the old ones
jasonculp
Actually the BVC coils are the new coils for the Nautilus, the BDC (Bottom Dual Coil) are the old ones And now they have the new, new BVC coils with larger holes and cotton! Tug
I wasn't aware of that,I traded off my Nautilus for something else a while back.I used a 60vg in it with no issues at all.
jasonculp
I wasn't aware of that,I traded off my Nautilus for something else a while back.I used a 60vg in it with no issues at all. I bought some the other day and was surprised they were different. I never saw an announcement or anything! I never had any trouble with mine, but the juice I was running in it liked 15+ Watts and it wicked fine. I keep the Nautilus and about 10 coils as backup now on my iStick 30. I am using my subtank mini now and very happy with it.
Tug
Yeah Im gonna pick up the subtank nano one of these days for my MVP 20w.I love the flavor and the look of them. They remind me of an old Hotrod retro type style.I dig it.
Tug
Swan, try priming a new coil first and see if that helps. And do the dry puffs to reassure it's soaked up good.
GeorgeF
TugBoat, I posted a picture the other day with the side by side showing the old and new BVC's for the Nautilus. ^^^^^Added this link to show the difference^^^^ Edited February 20, 2015 by GeorgeF
Tug
Now that you mention it I remember you posting that ,George.Completely slipped my mind lol.
GeorgeF
lol. I just was gonna post the link to the post about the coils. I too had trouble with the Boss Reserve in my Nautilus tanks. got thru more juice than the OP, but it would still end up burning due to poor juice flow. I now use it in my Kayfun and have less problems, but the juice is a coil clogger.
Tug
That's weird.why would the same brand of juice wick good with one flavor and not the other?
GeorgeF
Good question Tug. I have not tried their other flavors so I can't tell you how the other flavors wicked.
