An Update On My 510

Recommended Posts

Well, today's my 5th day vapin'. I've only been vaping in the evenings, so today is the 1st day I'll be vaping all day. When I first started I was having to draw really hard to get a good vapor, even then it wasn't like what I've seen in any of the vids. However, I was still enjoying it. Then it became tempermental. Got to where I'd put in a few drops and only get one or two good vapes, then hardly anything. Then it would seem fine for a while, then nothing. Then I would flood the atty. After several times of having to blow it out I was starting to get frustrated. On Friday I got my Spade and the VT collection. I'm putting the Spade up for Christmas, but was anxious to try the VT juice that I hear so much about. So I eagerly put in a few drops of Tobacco (per Keenan's recommendation)and took a draw with anticipation and... let's just say I was highly disappointed. At this point it still hadn't occurred to the that I had a bad atty because it was still getting hot. So, once again I blew it out and blew and wiped off the battery connections, but still didn't get much. From there I called Chris some choice names for selling crappy juice (jk) and went off to bed. This moring I cleaned it again, but to no avail. I finally came to my sences and decided to put on a new atty. OMG! Right off the bat I got better vapor than I did with the 1st atty, and after 30 minutes this thing really kicked in. What a beast! Also, the unexpected throat hit just about knocked me out of my chair and I got to experience the newbie choke. Quite a kick. So now all is right with the world and I'm a happy camper.

@Chris - love the juice man - Great Stuff!

Brian,

At times you will have an atty that is a BIG pain.

It will work, just take longer than normally.

Don't give up on the one atty. Use it as an emergancy. Clean it and reuse it. Sometimes the crap they put in it from the factory is gummed up on it and is a bit harder to use @ 1st.

My suggestion is to go to TW and take advantage of the 30% off B'day sale. Get some xtra attys, you will be grateful you did.

I did that this morning as I need more myself (now I feel special having a devil face on my atty. hehe)

Best of luck!

Brian, Glad to see that you have solved your problem. It is a good recommendation that you keep spare attys on hand at all times. Under normal circumstances an atomizer will last in the neighborhood of three to four weeks. I have had a new atomizer last as little as 5 days. I have also accidentally fried a few atomizers too, that is not fun when you are not at home and don't have an extra atomizer to replace it with. I generally order ten atomizers at a time and reorder when my stock gets down to two or three left on hand. Currently I am vaping on my last atomizer and have nothing as a back-up if it fails, but I have some on the way and they should be here Tuesday or Wednesday. If you have a particular atomizer that you use and are fond of as I am of the 801 Low or Short Bridge atomizers that AwesomeVapor.com and VaporTalkStore.com sell then you had better keep them on hand because you might find that they are hard to find and may become unavailable in a pinch. I have been waiting three weeks just to place an order for the particular atomizer that I favor and I was real worried that I would deplete my supply before they came available thru the outlets I buy from.

Brian, so glad you got it figured out. I went through the same thing with a couple of different attys when I first started out and almost gave up. I'm so thankful I didn't. First lesson learned - always have plenty of spare parts. I've been trying to get stocked up like SmokingMan said, but it is hard to come by the atty's sometimes. I, too, have been waiting for about 3 weeks to get some LB atty's. I haven't even tried a LB yet, but am anxious to try them. I ordered them as soon as I could and was really hoping they would be in the mail today, but they weren't. (Never mind my tears, I'll be okay. lol) I was hoping Chris would have some atty's in the VT store by today and was going to order them. But alas, not yet. I was also going to buy some more batteries for my spade, but (it figures) they are sold out. I had just about decided to get the VP/PT when they sold out. See what I mean? Sometimes it's hard to get this stuff. Maybe because so many of us are trying to get so much stocked up? I feel as though I am becoming a hoarder. But only of ecig stuff. LOL

I have two 510 kits, and just got a Spade so I have 5 atty's and wasn't very concerned about running out yet. However, I will be ordering some more tonight or tomorrow. I'll make sure I'm always well stocked. I have 2 wall charges and a usb charger and about 190 ml of juice also. Plus I'm certain Santa will make sure I'm taken care of this year. :)

@Stu - I took you advice from the other post and boiled that bad atty. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Ok - I'm now on my 3rd atty! :wtf: I've been very careful not to let this one get very hot, and I've used great will power to keep myslef from chain vaping. It's been working great until today. Last night I noticed that it was starting to leak a little, but not bad. Today it started leaking like a sive. Wasn't long after that and I would only get a couple of decent puffs before it started tasting burtn (just like the 1st atty I used). So now I'm on my 3rd atty in 7 days. Both of the 1st two were from one kit.. could it just have been a defective batch? Or is there some newbie thing I'm missing? The one I'm using now is from my 2nd kit. It's breaking in nicely so far. Sure hope it lasts longer than the others.

Anyhow, just ordered 10 atty's from the VT store so I'll be set for a while (I hope).

@Stubear62 - FYI - I boiled that 1st atty and let it dry for two days. Tried it tonight but I think it's toast. When I took a drag there was no resistance at all, barley any vapor, and it got scalding hot. Thought maybe I just didn't have enough juice in it, so I just kept adding a couple of drop after ever couple of puffs until it flooded. Used a paper tower to absorb some of it out, but it's still doing the same thing.

Did I mention that when I ordered the 10 atty's I also placed my order for the VP/PT and some more Tobacco juice? :D I'm over $500 now and only been vaping for a week! :o

That seems awful quick to be burning up attys like that, and it doesnt sound like your doin anything wrong. My guess is its a bad batch, that happens sometimes. I had that prob with batts before. Contact your supplier and let him know whats going oon, he should replace them, I would think.
