FXRich
I always get the hollow core never tried the cotton core. What exactly is cotton bacon?
Compenstine
I have not used it myself. It looks like cotton balls that have been unrolled. It is Organic Cotton Strips
FXRich
Has anyone tried wool as a wick? It will take twice the heat as cotton, but if it does burn it would probably taste like burnt hair. Supposedly they both have the same rate of absorbency. I know it sounds like a dumb question but I'm curious. jasonculp
I have not tried wool. I have tried everything else...I think. I currently can't make my mind up what is better, Japanese cotton, or Rayon. The Rayon seems to have less taste, but Japanese cotton seems to wick slightly better.
FXRich
I have tried Kevlar fibers, but that didn't work very well. I guess one of these days I may try wool. Right now I use mostly Ekowool.
Compenstine
I'll still be adding the Rayon to my tests. I just got busy then, life happened and lost track of what I was doing here. Now that I'll be doing it in video I have a new direction to work on. I still need to do the weights as well. Since I'll be starting from scratch again for the videos, I can add them in. I'm going to do the two I have now first. Not sure about the wool, it may make my lungs itchy.
FXRich
I used to work with Kevlar and it wicks about the same as silica, but now I know why we cut it with a laser, a scissors will not cut it. other than that it was ok.

Well I guess I spoke too soon! I have never tried Kevlar either.
FXRich
That's the reason why we used Kevlar fabric in indy fuel cells and nascar cells, you can't cut it easily.
