ddavelarsen Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 One of the least desireable aspects of vaping for me has been that after-meal vape. Not so good. Maybe it's just me? Unless I wait half an hour or so to vape after I've eaten - anything, doesn't have to have been a meal - the vapor, for lack of a better description, "stings" my mouth. Does anyone else have this experience? I don't know whether it's a taste effect or what, but it's really not pleasant like an analog used to be. Just curious whether I'm alone in this one.
keenan Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Hmmm, never had that happen. The after a meal vape took a while for me to get as good as the after a meal smoke was though. All of the "smoking rituals" actually took a while to get used to - first morning vape, after a meal vape- etc. But that went away with time, and now theyre ALL good. I think it was more mental than anything
ddavelarsen Posted December 3, 2009 Author Posted December 3, 2009 Yeah, the first one in the morning took me a while to get round to too. Now it's 'old hat.' But this taste thing is throwing me. Most days as I get old I'm becomming more convinced that my body is not my friend. I'll just be a hero and clean the kitchen or something after dinner, before I get to the PV. There's always an angle... On another front, it's amazing how I'm starting to feel better after only a week off the analogs. Happy Days, I say! Next thing you know I'll have more energy than the dog... Or not.

Next thing you know I'll have more energy than the dog... Or not. My body has been a part of the axis of evil for many many years now. As for my dog, he;s a dachshund, and has about as much energy as a pillow. When theres food involved, hes a tornado, but other than that, I got him beat when Im sleeping. I dont understand it, how some people get all of their senses back while others dont. I think it was nana who said after 4 monthes she STILL doesnt have her tastebuds back. That was the first thing I noticed, before having more energy.
VegasVapor Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 Interesting. Never had this happen to me either. It definitely isn't the same as smoking an analog after a meal though. I do notice that I can't taste the flavor of my vape as much until after the taste of the food I just ate goes away. Actually I get that stingy sensation regardless of after eating or not. It's the harshness of the vapor which I guess we refer to as throat hit. It goes away after my e-cig has warmed up and I've taken a few puffs. That's probably something totally different than what you're talking about though.
nana Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 First of all, I don't get that when vaping after a meal. I've never had a problem with it at all. I really adjusted to vaping very easily and that's what amazed me the most. Second, it's only been 2 months for me, but no, my taste buds are working the best yet. But I can live with that. Third, I started noticing the energy level go up right away. And being able to smell things better. Actually, a lot of things improved right away. Finally, my dogs are Great Danes and just about the most laid back creatures ever. They like their run the first thing when they go outside, but then they're done for quite awhile. I do have more energy now, but I wouldn't even try to keep up with them when they run. My dogs are like tornados when it comes to food, too.
Christopher Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I never have a problem after a meal either and in fact this came at a good time because I just got done eating a ton of Pizza I will say that vaping doesn't quite satisfy as fast as an analog but it still satisfies. No sting though
seaspine Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 I like to vape a choclate or cola juice after a meal, something sweet. It acts as dessert and helps keep the pounds off.Try that.I got use to it pretty quick.

Hm; great idea! I'm really digging flavors, so I'll fit that in my next order. It never even occurred to me. You folks rock. Thank you seaspine. Keenan and nana, our best friends are special, aren't they? Nana, I think a Great Dane might be our next dog too. I love them, always have. At a recent 'pet expo' locally, I got the business card from a group that does Dane adoptions, and I'm lobbying pretty heavily in that direction. Keenan I've only been around a Dachshund once, and she was the "cuddliest" dog I've ever known. I'm a pushover. Mammals are so cool. Lucy is half Shar Pei and half Lab. Funny looking dog, but so sweet all you can do is love her -- because she loves you. She really is something special, no bias included. When she was just a few weeks old her head was about as big as her body, and her lips were most of her head. She pretty much just walked on her two front feet. Sometimes we had to hold her butt down so she could get traction. Back on topic. Possibly one solution to my vapor-sting after eating is -- not eat! Yeah, that's the ticket! I wish. Food is so good. Probably it's not related to vaping or quitting analogs, but I've had less appetite the last few days too. That is most assuredly a Good Thing. Maybe I'll become all svelte and cool because of vaping! Or not.
NeRo9k Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 ddavelarsen, I agree, vaping doesn't quite fulfill the after meal smoke like an analog did. I do agree with you though, it after meal vape doesn't burn per say but it does taste a little different.

I'm not perfect on avoiding the analogs, but when I get a craving I try to reach for the PV first. Some of the flavors are amazing as a desert substitute, especially being diabetic. I'm digging Ms. T's Bakery Essentials Chocolate Brownie, you'd swear you were eating brownie batter before it bakes, and the bananas foster coffee will knock your socks off. I can't help it, I like it rich and sweet! VT Store needs more sweet stuff!
Jeffb Posted December 4, 2009 Posted December 4, 2009 Aw yes the after dinner smoke. I remeber it well. lol I do sometimes get that tingly, peppery feeling in my mouth when I vape after eating, but a lot depends on what I've eaten. I've posted before that cereal and vaping don't mix for me. But I never liked analogs after milk and cookies either.
ddavelarsen Posted December 4, 2009 Author Posted December 4, 2009 "Peppery" is a good description of it Jeff. The whole idea of vaping something rich and sweet after meals is very appealing. I'm going to give that a try. Good stuff folks, thanks!

Don't feel bad if all of these other guys don't know what your talking about. I have the same thing happen to me. It is even worse if the food that I ate was crunchy and salty like chips or nuts. The vaping burns the heck out of my tongue. I just normally wait a few minutes after I eat or I just vape and bear it!

TheSmokingMan Posted December 6, 2009 Posted December 6, 2009 So now the question is vaping or eating, maybe that is how I can get this gut down from the 32" it is now back to the 29" waist that I have always had!
