Earthling789 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I ran across these and thought they were kinda spiffy, but hardly worth $20/each, IMO... maybe someone will clone them, or come out with a design that has multiple rods/caps in one set?
jasonculp Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 That it too cool! I want a set. I don't rebuild much any more, but I still want them. I wonder if they would help me make a BVC for my delta?
Tam Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 That's cool but I, too, would like to see multiple rods and tops in one order but I'm very happy with my Q-coiler, it works just fine and is very versatile at less cost.
joejoevapekins Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 I'll stick with my homemade coil jig lol
crush02342002 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm trying to mill something out so you can use a drill at low speed to make coils, Iv got a few ideas. I'll prolly cheat and do as little milling as possible
WillBlack Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 Really nice. A better vid. Note the last step that trippy missed. jasonculp and WildBill 2
Earthling789 Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Strange they mention flipping the coil and tightening it up... that was one of my thoughts on it, to clean up that first wrap
jasonculp Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 It is just like every thing else... I don't need it, but it is new, shiny, and pretty cool... I still want it... Tam and GeorgeF 2
Mplough Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I'm all over these when SOMEONE has them in stock. Every store search I find, they are sold out
DragonGunner Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'm sure these are awesome, but I think I will stick to old school drill bits and mini screwdrivers.
joejoevapekins Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Youde is coming out with those little things too
Earthling789 Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Gotta love the Chinese capacity to clone something good/popular (and sometimes do it better), practically overnight, and sell it for pennies on the dollar of the authentic
Mplough Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 I'll pay the $20 to help a fellow small business owner.
tre_mel_low Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 I have the whole set - all three sizes - and I love them, worth every penny. Although an argument can be made that coil building is an art (I think it is) these are great for ripping out a perfect coil in literally seconds. I used it recently to make a twisted 28g coil that turned out very nicely. I definitely recommend them. BTW - if you need to buy, or can only get your hands on one size, get the 2mm (CW-20) I find myself reaching for that one more than the others.
tre_mel_low Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Also the quality of these things is top notch, very solid. I doubt China can make a unit of this quality for a price point under ten bucks.

joejoevapekins Posted January 9, 2015 Posted January 9, 2015 Fasttech $2.69...may have to wait but it 3buckshttp://www.fasttech.com/search?Kuro%20Koiler Tam 1
Earthling789 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 Fasttech $2.69...may have to wait but it 3buckshttp://www.fasttech.com/search?Kuro%20Koiler Thanks for the heads-up on Fasttech... I just ordered the Kuro 3-pack for < $7, and added in a couple of other odds-n-ends I needed for spare parts... I may have to wait for them, but it's better than $60 for the set Tam 1
Earthling789 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 I've been coiling my Russians on a 2.25mm or 2.5mm rod. Both work well, depending on the gauge wire you use. My current set-up is 28ga, coiled on 2.25mm rod to hit 1.4 Ohms (using organic Japanese cotton). Seems to be the sweet-spot for the single-coil Russian 91%
Earthling789 Posted January 9, 2015 Author Posted January 9, 2015 $2.69 each or < $7 for the set... it was a no-brainer to me, too
