EMOWmega.. bad quality control or me doing something wrong?

Hey guys, just joined and wanted to get a second opinion to compare to what my local vape store says. I was a fairly heavy smoker (7-12 a day) and now they make me gag unless i am wasted. Basically i find myself vaping only but vaping alot because i hardly smoke analogues anymore and my kangertech mega seems to have trouble keeping up with me:

1: I have had an issue with this emow and the previous one i had (warranty swapped...though It had a battery problem as well) : DRY HITS! because it is happening now on the one they gave me as a replacement i am wondering if maybe I am doing something wrong? a number of things have proven to fix these dry hits (if only temporarily).

Removing or loosening the tank,

taking the coil out and re-seating it,

ajusting airflow with the control on the tank,

priming the wick.

All of these things do help (at least sometimes) but it will go back to dry hitting usually at least once per fill... so basiclly is it bad quality control or is there something else i can try? maybe some fancy combination of the things above?

2: I am thinking of buying another because the battery dosent last me a full day (12 hour days), am wondering if i should just jump to another brand? maybe another kangertech model so some parts are interchangable? i just dont know how much loyalty i should be having to kangertech with these problems.

What is the PG/VG Ratio of the Juice you use?

What is the Nicotine content of the Juice you use?

ive been mixing juices but here are the big ones, the brand is called smoke-less and are all 70/30 PG/VG:

canadian classic tobacco flavour 12mg

export A tobacco flavour 18mg

arctic menthol 12mg

peppermint 12mg

60/40 mix of 18mg export A tobacco flavour / 0mg cherry (roughly 12mg total for the mix)

ice and fire (menthol / cinnamon flavour) 12mg

ive tried mixing most of these as well and have had dry hits from all combos, most effective way to get dry hits to stop so far has been loosening the tank, allowing some air bubbles in, tightening it a tiny bit back, then priming the wick before hitting. still dosen't work every time.

also the dry hits make me burn through coils in about a week, they said a coil should last at least 2 weeks but who knows. i think this just goes to show that im getting alot of dry hits

Your juice is not too thick and should wick ok.

Your Nic level is ok at 18, but you may want to consider bumping that up a bit to help the cravings, I would suggest 20-24mg. This would help in the constant hitting of your device.

Here is what I would suggest you do for the dry hits. Every time before you hit the fire button, draw 2-3 times without power then press the power button and take your hit. Doing this draws juice to the wick before you fire it.

As far as the coils most Stock Kanger coils only last a week. If your Juice is a dark juice, it could even be less time for your coil to go bad.

thanks! will try tonight. Though that is what i meant when i said priming the wick, i definatley havent been in the habit of doing that every time i smoke it, makes sense though.

if anyone else has kangertech products can you let me know if you have seen any of these problems? would you reccomend buying a second one or a bigger tank / battery?

I use a lot of Kanger tanks. I like the coil heads I build for them and I do not get dry hits at all. I use cotton for the wick and it draws juice to coil much better than the Silica in the Stock Coil Heads. They also last a lot longer if I do the maintenance on it. (Dry burn and Rewick) They also provide more flavor and vapor than even the stock dual coil heads.

When you say 7 - 12 a day, did you mean cigarettes, or packs???? If it's cigarettes, no, that's not heavy, and 18 mg should do you just fine. As far as dry hits, the only other thing I can think of is if you are chain vaping, and it can't keep up with you? Truthfully, I won't be much help with this, because I've only had a handful of dry hits in the last year and a half, I think all of them being in the first few months.

I'm not familiar with the Kanger Mega, but if memory serves it is a two dual-coil set-up?

I've not had a dry-hit on a Kanger coil in a very long time. One thing that will cause a dry-hit on a dual-coil is not enough air-flow. Have you tried to open the air-flow to a higher or max-setting? Another issue for dry-hits is too much Voltage/Power. If you're using a variable-voltage battery, try turning it down a little and it may be better?

As Comp said, your juice should be fine for PG/VG ratios, and 18mg should be enough for your "needs", although everyone's need is different, so trying 24mg may be better for you as you get completely off analogs.

Your set-up is fine, but I would recommend that you pick up another battery or two, and another tank or two such as the KPT2 (standard or mini), or an AeroTank (standard or mini) or perhaps the Aspire Nautilus (standard or mini). Any battery will do you well, as long as it is 900mAh or larger. I would suggest 1100, 1300, or 1600mAh eGo-style batteries, or a box-style like an Innokin MVP 2.0 or Eleaf iStick.... they're both 2200mAh and have variable voltage/wattage for better vaping control.

I haven't seen the emow stuff up close but with most kanger tanks there's a pretty simple fix for dry hits. Cover the air holes in the base and take 2 hard puffs on it without hitting the fire button, it pulls fluid back into the wick and coil. I had that problem with my t3s and evod tanks, I chain vape almost as bad as I used to chain smoke. I used to smoke 2 1/2 to 3 packs a day for almost 10 years.

Should help some. Setting your emow down at a slight angle like 60° to 70° should also help keep the wick wet. Don't let your fluid get too low either.

i think something that I underestimated is the thread on the tank needs to be wiped clean, and when you loosen the tank "to allow air bubbles in" what you are really doing is flooding this screw thread, yes it can help by also flooding wick and coil but you are messing up the suction motion by breaking the airtight seal. I think the problem MAY be that i didnt have the tank on tight enough with thread that was wiped clean.

this is how i most recently fixed the dry hitting and havent had one yet though it has only been about a day. it seems as though the tank is meant to be screwed on so that the button on the battery lines up with one of the windows to the tank. any more or less than this causes me dry hits.

@kngfdrgn thanks m8 this helps as well. some liquid seems to draw in more easily with less airflow (the thicker ones)

No problem, I used to get frustrated about dry hits until a buddy of mine who runs a b&m over in nc gave me the same tips.
