Just another reason why wall chargers should be used and e-cigs should not be plugged into your computer. Thanks for the link to the article. :)

I've read that using phone adapters or whatnot can be dangerous for the battery. I'm no electrician and I'm definitely no whiz when it comes to voltage outputs etc...but I'm pretty sure this is safe to use, yes?

Output 5v on the adapter and the charger is 5v, so...should be OK....

So long as your wall wort is putting out 5v you are fine your battery charger will regulate that output down to the 4.2 v and 420mA. I have a wall wort that has a 15V output (ASUS Tablet) that would burn out the battery charger you show in your pic.
