Dubbin1 Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Finally after 30 years of smoking a pack a day I have gave up on the icky sticks and found my new love of vaping. Last month on a whim (well I was sick and had a lung infection) I decided to try out the ecig world so I stopped at a local cig shop to buy my first ecig. Of course this place ended up not being the best place to start but I didn't give up (almost did). They started me off with a tiny eGo battery, a really crappy plastic tank and some of the worst eliquid in the world. Not knowing any better I kept going in and buying more of that crap juice until one day I thought I poisoned myself with a juice that I swear was pure ether... After that day I did some online searching and found a real vape shop about 40 miles away and headed up there. While I was there I picked up an aspire bdc tank and some awesome juice. I made a couple more trips back up there until the last time I was there I was charged $45 for a simple ego twist battery. Not knowing any better I paid for it and was on my way. Once I learned how much I should have really paid for it I did some more online searching and found some much closer vape shops including one only minutes away. Now that I was on the right track to succeeding in my quest to quit smoking I thought it was time to up the game so I purchased an itazte mvp v2, nautilus mini and nautilus tank. That is the setup that has now made me happy and will keep me from going back to the icky sticks. Oh and the Space Jam Astro also has to take some credit. In less than a month I have gone from 24mg down to 3-6mg of nicotine and I 'm quickly heading for the 0mg mark. That's my goal and I'm confident I will get there. How long it will take I don't know but as long as I'm off the icky sticks I don't care. Today I ordered up a shiny new eLeaf iStick in blue for 34.95 shipped. What a great bargain for a 20w vv/vw mod. It will be my take to work and keep in my pocked mod for the cold Ohio winter we have coming. To anyone that is looking to quit smoking and wants to take up vaping I beg you to not make the same mistakes I made and to just fork out the cash for a quality vv/vw mod and quality tank. If you get what worked for me right off the bat I am sure you will succeed in your quest. You can pick up the iStick mod and Nautilus or Nautilus Mini tank for less than $50 on ebay. If nothing else make sure you get a quality good tasting liquid. Seriously try the Space Jam Astro juice. Sorry my first post was so long winded but I am excited to share my story Crystalyn and ValerieeRJackson 2
Crystalyn Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 This is awesome! Congrats on no more "icky sticks"! That made me smile. Lol
jonnoh Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 A huge congratulations! I too suffered from terrible devices when I started a couple of years ago. Then, here in Malaysia, at a tiny kiosk in the hallway of a not too popular mall, they sold those things that looked disarmingly like cigarettes but didn't work well at all. You had to drip liquid into the filter looking part, and the white part was the battery. The taste was mediocre for a puff or two, then bad. Then the battery would go flat. I gave it up as a lost cause. Then the pen. I got that online where I had to bank into their account before they would ship from Joher Baru and they were very good but the product was almost as bad as the cigalike. Then comes Alibaba! I had to pay through Western Union and then it took weeks to come from China..... Also as bad as the cigalikes. Then a miracle. I saw a guy at the bank toking on a penalike thingy that actually seemed to work. I was waiting my turn at the bank, drinking coffee at the cafe next door and this guy was selling an online service so we chatted and it turned out to be an eGo type with a small plastic tank, but it lasted through two cups of coffee, and was still going strong after I finished my banking. Finally something that might work. I found out sorta where he bought it but didn't really get it because we don't speak the same language very well. I told my sig other about it, and he researched it and surprise! He ordered some eGo VV twists and a few adequate tanks from several brands and some flavours and OMG I was off. I've improved my stash over the past eighteen months and am SMOKE FREE after almost fifty years! Shock and Awe it is and it works.
VapeMama Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 Welcome Dubbin from another Ohioan! Thanks for sharing!

Tam Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 If the new vapers are on this forum reading your post, you can rest assured that we're working hard not to let them make the same mistakes you did. Also, a word of caution: be very careful of what you buy on eBay. All too often we hear of people getting knock offs with low quality. Most of us here only recommend quality vendors who stand behind their sales and only sell genuine brand names like the Vapor Talk store, Fadora Vapors (Comp sells hardware as well as some of the most awesomely amazing juices), etc. Take a look at the vendors that are on Vapor Talk. You'll also see many of the same names come up time and again from our members. Welcome to Vapor Talk.
GeorgeF Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Dubbin1, I am also new to the forum. Welcome. I too have traveled down the same road. Spending money on inferior crap some store close to me sells, only to find a store that sells only authentic stuff. No Clones. And Space Jam juice is great, Andromeda and Venus are so far been good to me.
mkauthen Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Welcome! Glad you are on the right road now! (many of us took the bumpy road to start out). And I too agree on Space Jam juices, hubby and I currently are using Galactica and Andromeda. But as you continue this journey you will find many many great juice companies. Michelle
Duffloop Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Howdee My fist kit fell apart too But the good side is it justifies buying new kit ;-)
