MarchHare94 Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 What does everyone think of the new Kanger coil design? I picked up a pack last night, couldn't figure the things out, got a burnt taste every time. Ended up pulling the bottom pin, dripping some juice in then putting the pin back. Working fine now!
Tam Posted September 24, 2014 Posted September 24, 2014 Can you give us a link to the new coil so we can see?
Tam Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Ah, the dual coils. Gotcha. For the KPT3 and KPT3 minis. http://www.sun-vapers.com/buy/kanger-dual-coil-atomizer-heads-enclosed-wick/
OhmWrecker Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 So are they a better than the aspire BDC or BVC? If so I might try them as I like to have a tank while i'm driving. I don't like to drip and drive lol but I haven't had a good experience with the Kanger coils unless it's one I rebuilt.
Tam Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 The dual coils are...okay, in my opinion. I prefer the single coils personally, and use them in my KPT3 and Aerotanks instead. Much cheaper and not a whole lot of difference performance and flavor-wise -- for me.
Christopher Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 We're actually carrying these in the store now and I've been using them for the last week/ week and a half and I haven't had a single issue with burnt tasting liquid. Whenever I fill my tanks and change the coil for the first time I generally leave the e-cigarette upright for about 10 minutes to ensure the new coil takes in some liquid. I prefer them to the cotton wicks personally.
OhmWrecker Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I feel like there's really no need for dual coils in them, just wasn't that impressed compared to single coils, the only pre-made coil I actually liked was the aspire BVC
Earthling789 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Single coil KPT2 with Air-flow control base, compared to dual-coil Aerotank... same flavor (basically), but the AeroTank gives slightly more vapor and slightly warmer vape... dual-coils also burn through juice a tiny bit faster... and I do mean a TINY bit faster. For some juices, it makes no difference to me which tank I use... some do taste better if warmer, so I use the AeroTanks for those (or KPT3 mini). For all others, I'll use the KPT2 with air-flow control base added... because the juice lasts a bit longer (saves $).
Compenstine Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Personally I find a single twisted coil rebuild KPT out performs the KPT OEM dual coils hands down. @hope_photography123 and Tam 2
OhmWrecker Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I thought about using twisted wire for my KPT. Do you wrap 30 gauge or do you use a tiger coil? @hope_photography123 1
Compenstine Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Tiger, 32ga R .5 F 7 wraps will give you a 1.3-4ohm coil.
OhmWrecker Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I'll definitely have to try that never really thought about putting that into a KPT. I have a feeling i'm going to like that better than the coils i have in them now
Compenstine Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 I have been testing one now since April. Yes I built it in April and use it everyday. I Rewick and Dry Burn it 1-2 times (depending on juice flavor used) a week and it is still going strong. I have no doubt you will like it more. I have to say though that the rubber insulator is getting old and I may have to rebuild a new one only for that reason. LOL
MarchHare94 Posted September 25, 2014 Author Posted September 25, 2014 That is the one. Sorry I never got around to responding. Works killer. I've got my old ones saved so I can rebuild them in the near future, just need to find a good source for the wire and wick for them
Compenstine Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Temco for wire, Local Walgreens Organic Cotton Balls for wicking. The other choice for wicking would Japanese Cotton.
MarchHare94 Posted September 26, 2014 Author Posted September 26, 2014 Any tips on what gauge wire? Also, any videos showing how to do it would be great
@hope_photography123 Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 So has anyone rebuit the new ones.. I rebuild the old heads but I took a look last night and couldn't find any openings for the chimney top.. U see the seal under the ring and at the base but only the base would open for me?
Compenstine Posted September 29, 2014 Posted September 29, 2014 This is a tear down of the newer version:
Tam Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 This is a tear down of the newer version: Have you noticed a difference in performance, Comp?
Compenstine Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 No not really. I do notice that they don't wick as well, but do leak less. It was kind of pain to take apart. I think part of the design is to make rebuilding them more difficult. Tam 1
Earthling789 Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 Comp, when you say 'leak less', do you mean leaking into the center-tube, causing those annoying gurgling sounds and drips on the battery posts? Honestly, since I've changed over to using 1.5 ohm coils (not the new style), I've not had this issue in a LONG time.... even with my 80/20 juices! To me, it seemed that the 2.0 dual-coils gurgled FAR more, and was compounded by thinner juices. I doubt I'll see any of these new coils for a long time, too... I've still got more than 50 of the old-style on the shelf I also wonder if the new configuration could more readily be adapted to a vertical micro-coil?
Tam Posted October 5, 2014 Posted October 5, 2014 I also wonder if the new configuration could more readily be adapted to a vertical micro-coil? Oooh, I like how you think!
