aerokinetic
Hi all, I have an Aerotank v2 and a Vision Spinner 2, and today after coming home from work, I dry burn my coil (which I've done several times before) and everything is great. About fifteen minutes later, though, it stops producing vapor for a moment. Discovering that the coil somehow became disconnected from the air flow control ring (where the battery connector is), I figure that's the issue. After securing everything, I find a very harsh, nasty taste, no matter what voltage I use. I've used three different coils, three different batteries, several types of e-liquid, as well as cleaning all the parts, and the problem continues. I'm absolutely stumped, and any help would be greatly appreciated.
Earthling789
Are you dry-burning the new coils, as well? If so, chances are that you are burning up the wick, which is causing your burnt-tastes and poor vapor (because the wick has reduced ability). If you burn the wick inside the coil, it cannot properly wick juice TO the coil for proper atomizing. There is no need to dry-burn a replaceable coil, especially if new! If you are dry-burning to remove build-up on the coil (which would be non-existent on a new one anyway) to prolong it's life, you should remove the wick first, burn the coil to remove residue, then re-wick with fresh material (silica, cotton, rayon). Bebop
You don't say whether this problem persists with a brand new coil. Dry burning can prolong a coils life but I find can only be done 1 or 2 times (if you are not changing the wick). There is a permanent "off" taste I wouldn't call a burning taste but just a bad aftertaste. Eventually you have to rebuild or replace the coil. Earthling789
Also, another thing to consider... how are you cleaning the tank? Are you fully disassembling the tank, washing, rinsing, rinsing, rinsing, and rinsing again (hotter the water the better)? You could have some residue from the cleaning process as well? Thoroughly air-drying, while disassembled, overnight also assures you don't have any water (or other rinse-agents) left in the crevices which will alter tastes. aerokinetic
The problem seems to have solved itself, curiously enough. Thanks though!
Testy
I stopped using any wick that can burn up. I switched to a mineral wick and have been much happier with mine. One dry burn is all it takes to fry most wicks.
bcartervol98
As cheap as coils are I do not dry burn anything or clean coils, never have. I simply pop one off, toss it and pop a new one on about every 5-6 tankfuls or whenever I get that distinct "This coil is ready to be changed" taste.
