Datamancer
Hey all, I just picked myself up a nifty 5ml tank (mostly because it looks cool and fits nicely with my new Vamo). After using eGos for about a year, I know that the juice goes bad after awhile sitting in the tank (and those things are barely 1ml!). Thus, I am already paranoid about putting a full 5ml into my new tank. Any suggestions for keeping the juice fresh? Am I fighting a losing battle here? Thanks guys

Earthling789
Heat is your major killer of juice in a tank like Protank or Nautilus... so with that much volume, I'd not worry too much about it going bad from coil-heat. Just vape it WAY down before topping it back off, so you're not mixing new with stuff that may have been there through several refills. hookahhighness
Compenstine
I do what Earthling suggests. The only thing I do different (With my KPT mostly) is dump the last little bit before I refill. I have not had to do that with my Nautilus yet. It don't seem to darken as fast. It seems to be the coil that causes a lot of discoloring. If it taste off towards the bottom... Dump it, wipe the tank clean with a paper towel and change the coil/wick.
Datamancer
Ok, thanks guys. I've been doing the dump-the-last-bit thing even with the ego 1 mil tanks, and that has been substantially better (considering that I sort of figured that one out on my own). I didn't, however, realize that it was a function of heat; I thought the stuff oxodized or something. Thank you for the info! SteezeOG
Unless it's exposed to air or a lot of light (sunlight in particular) you shouldn't notice a change. Unless it takes you weeks to vape off 5ml. Just don't leave it out in your car in the sun or anything. A little heat actually brings out the flavor some as long as it's not over about 90 degrees. I keep a nautilus mini in my truck but shielded from sunlight in a black carry case. The warm but not too hot condition actually helps steep the juice quicker and really bring out the flavors. jasonculp
I use a nautilus which is supposed to be a 5ml tank. I usually use between 4 - 6 ml a day in it. I seem to have a little flooding if I let mine get below the 2ml mark. I am super lazy and I just top it off. I have never had any trouble. I do vape it down to near empty on the weekend. I dump the tank, change coils, and wash. I usually drop my coil in a cup of vodka and let it set overnight. The next morning I rinse it out and let it air dry until next weeks change. I vape the same flavor in the tank so I don't have to worry about changing flavors. I usually use the coils 2 times and toss them in a spares box (approxamately 2 weeks with 1 cleaning)

I leave juice in my car all the time, it's regularly 130+ degrees in there during the summer, and they have been fine
Bebop
I leave juice in my car all the time, it's regularly 130+ degrees in there during the summer, and they have been fine Oh boy.... well I disagree because I have found heat breaks down juice and changes its flavor. And some juices contain actual food products (flavoring). Not a good idea....

In my experience, leaving it in high heat/hot car, changed the flavor as well as the consistency and throat hit. Add to that, I'm not certain what leeches out of a plastic bottle when it gets that hot...
jasonculp
I also carry mine in the car. It has been near 100 degrees outside. I only carry a small backup bottle plus what is in my tank. I don't know what is going on chemically, but when I get home the juice is a little darker in color than the bottle I originally poured it out of. I have started using an insulated pouch from my wife's Humera it seems to help shield some of the heat.
Compenstine
Heat will degrade the NIC, and it can spoil in a hot Car/Truck. Best thing to do is just take it with you in the summer. I do leave a bottle in my Truck over the winter in the console away from the sunlight.
Tam
A small cooler with a cold pack would shield it from the heat since it's sitting in a vehicle.

jasonculp
That's cool! I guess I need to clarify. I am in my car 80 percent of the day at least. So the AC is going. When I get hung up in a customer's for a long while it can be hot. When I am at the house or office, I bring it in with me. What amazes me is how little heat it takes to discolor it. I also noticed that as my juice ages it turns darker, but also seems to taste better. My all day vape I buy 3 flavors 30ml each then mix them into a 120 ml container. I then put about 15 or so in a small bottle to carry. This only lasts for about 2 weeks.
Garrett1234567
The reason it turns darker is the steeping process, when I DIY my own liquid it's clear. I follow a steeping process that takes 2 weeks and after 2 weeks it's got a nice golden or sometimes redish hue to it depending the flavor. My honeydew turns redish but strawberry and cream turns a golden/amber color.as a flavor steeps it will begin to taste different too, more of the flavor is coming out and blending with the VG/PG better Edited September 4, 2014 by Garrett1234567 jasonculp
