robv1978
I have a carvela clone using a dual coil .4 ohm rda with an IMR 30 watt 18650 battery.
Bushwick
IMR 30 amp battery? Where did you buy the battery? Do you know who made it?
Earthling789
^^ This ^^ 0.4 Ohms @ max voltage of 4.2V is only 10.5A (and 44W).... That should not make a true-30A battery "hot"... "warm", yes, especially if chain-vaping... but not hot.
VapeHappy
I had the same problem once. After very careful inspection, It was discovered that "I" had put the battery in back words, :?( Close call I guess, LOL. R Mtdobies
Vaporsmith
Is the actual battery just getting hot is the mod itself getting hot? Sometimes little metal shavings get scraped into the button and can cause heat issues. Clean the mod with tarn x and see if that helps. If it is just the battery, I don't really know what would cause that. Edited August 21, 2014 by Vaporsmith

robv1978
Yeah I meant 30 amp... LOL Efest 30 amp IMR18650NP 1600mah and a Vamped 40 amp 2000mah. The battery doesn't get hot just a little warm from transference. The button gets warmer than the body though.
robv1978
As far as metal shavings or gunk my heavily used mlds are cleaned weekly or more often.
Vaporsmith
Probably the spring, my nemmy did this to me once. >_> Edited August 21, 2014 by Vaporsmith
robv1978
Why would the spring cause it?
Vaporsmith
I've asked the same question, no real response. All I know is, I changed mine out and its fine now.
mvince201
You would think that someone who is so responsible and so quick to blame everyone else would do more research on his batteries and not expect someone else to tell him everything he believes. Not singling anyone out, just speaking in general. It gets hot because a battery has internal resistance which causes it to produce heat when discharging high amperage. mvince201
Use a vtc4 or 5 Both of the batteries mentioned are not true 30/40 amp batteries and fall very short of their maH rating as well. If you are running anything below .6 on an Efest it WILL get warm, period. They are dollar store batteries. mvince201
Simple fact is, if you have heat, you have resistance. So whatever is getting hot, figure out why there is resistance there and remove it.

Vaporsmith
And I use Sonys so I never have to worry about it.
Richstag
Exactly. Say you have a copper contact that is corroded over... that causes resistance...resistance causes heat. This will transfer quickly into the battery, or could just be making the mech feel hot. Loose contacts do the same thing. They cause resistance and can even cause arching. SOrry if this isn't explained perfect
robv1978
I guess it was the spring or pin. I bought a nemesis clone today and have no hot battery issues. Just the transference onto the body. I'm currently running a .2 ohm RDA. I think my next purchase will be an RDA with heat sinks. There's a few out there priced well.
