tea2085 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 To charge a Vision 11 before it turns orange (indicating very low bat). I would like my Aspire mini in the am and am ready for bed. I know on older bats it was suggested that they be almost dead. Paul
subnuclear Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 lithium batteries do not need to be discharged prior to charging. They do not get a battery memory like NiHi batteries do. it is actually better to not "fully discharge" lithium batteries because if their voltage goes too low they can be damaged beyond repair.
WillBlack Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Actually they tend to last a bit longer (longevity/lifetime) if frequently topped off.
fishguy1123 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I was wondering the same thing. The instructions recomend charging it when it gets to orange on the indicator for optimal life span.
tea2085 Posted August 13, 2014 Author Posted August 13, 2014 I did see in the instructions that it said when the orange light appears to charge it. Didn't see anything about "for optimal life span". Paul
subnuclear Posted August 15, 2014 Posted August 15, 2014 i've noticed things like this with lithium batteries before. Methinks the engineers (if it is engineers) writing these instructions need to take a battery materials class so they can learn the difference between different types of batteries.
