jasonculp Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 I saw these in the local B&M yesturday. They were $36.00 each. I really would like one, and I like the way they look, but I am hesitant to spend more on a replacement tank than I can buy a whole new assembly. http://wyckedvapor.com/product/aspire-nautilus-replacement-tank-v3-by-acexus/
Earthling789 Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Wow, that's a lot of $ for the ruggedness of Stainless... only to be kneecapped by the limitations of cheap, colored plastic at the bottom. Bebop 1
jasonculp Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 It is a strange plastic, it looks very sturdy. I am not sure what it is. The guy at the shop told me it was indestructible. I found some on ebay for about half price, but I am thinking I should just buy another complete Nautilus. I closed my paypal account after I apparently bought a camera and had it shipped to someone else in the North East, a far cry from Texas. (It took months to get the $600 back in my account)
jasonculp Posted August 9, 2014 Author Posted August 9, 2014 I never think to look there! I have always been so scared of low quality parts, i just avoid it. I read so much about people having good luck with them, but some don't. I really don't have the money to make too many mistakes!
Tam Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 That's too bad the bottom is plastic -- a deal breaker for me since many of the juices I vape are tank crackers. They should eventually come out with a Pyrex version and when they do...
subnuclear Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 i've never had a problem with fasttech i have ordered over 1000 dollars worth of stuff from them (probalby more). the only thing was i had hong kong post refuse one of my battery shipments. it went back to fast tech and they refunded my money. quality wise i have run the gambit from getting authentic really cheap to wasting money on some cool stuff i thought i would try. jasonculp 1
jasonculp Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 subnuclear- I have been really tempted. I have a huge wish list, I just have not bought anything! I am trying, not very successfully, to keep my vape spending less than what I would have spent on analogs. It has really tested my will power. There is so much stuff I want to try! I am glad to get an endorsement for them, It will make it easier to pull the trigger when it is time!
Earthling789 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Curbing your spending is a hard thing to do with any new hobby... sooooo many shiny things I know your pain... and applaud you for your tenacity to stay within budget! The good news is, once you get the basics and back-ups... weekly expenses for vaping is 1/4 to 1/5 what you would have spent on analogs (at least it is for me), so you'll be in better shape financially (and your health), and won't feel so bad when you drop a few bucks on something shiny and new... after-all, you deserve a treat, right?
jasonculp Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Not spending has been nearly as hard as dropping the analogs. I think if I would spend another $200 or so I would have enough hardware that I would be fairly satisfied for a while. I could then focus of finding different liquids.

I think if I would spend another $200 or so I would have enough hardware that I would be fairly satisfied for a while. I could then focus of finding different liquids. $200 buys a lot of stuff... I'd recommend focusing on having two to four quality batteries, and at least four quality tanks (and two boxes of coils). With that in your arsenal of hardware, you can focus on juices and isolate things you like right now. Your tastes will change after a few months of vaping because you'll get your ability to taste "back". AND, you'll have the opportunity to really evaluate your hardware to see if you need something different, or more of the same (later). Compenstine, Mtdobies and Tam 3
jasonculp Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 I have all of my daily stuff. (Tanks, backups, etc.) I think now the rest is want stuff....lol None of the stuff I want is necessary to keep me from going back to smoking. I want to start building my own coils, and making a little juice. Most of that $200 has to do with that. I guess what I am saying is that I have the all the stuff necessary for the smoking cessation program, now I am ready for the hobby end of things! Wanting: Mechanical mod Batteries/Charger Kanthal DIY Liquid supplies I have gathered things in a weird way. I have all the tools and safety equipment just sitting here. I just don't have anything to use in them yet! After reading everything I could find, I started with ohm meters, coil building tools, gloves, graduated cylinders, and beakers. I think it makes it twice as hard knowing that all that stuff is here and I don't have anything to do with them!
Tam Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Do you have tanks that use KPT single coils? If so, then you just need some Kanthal and try rebuilding those. That will give you a half-way point and might keep you amused for a while before you get into the rest.
jasonculp Posted August 10, 2014 Author Posted August 10, 2014 Tameiki, I do. I need to do that. I have never been able to make Kanger products work for me, so they just sit in the bottom of a box. I guess I need to buy a spool of Kanthal and see what I can do! That's a good idea. Tam 1
Compenstine Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I find that the rebuilt coils in the Kanger are far better than the stock coils. (Just my opinion) The thing I disliked about the Kanger Tanks was the air flow. The Areo base is a huge improvement. In the event of a leak it will also catch the juice and keep it off the battery terminal. You can get a couple 100ft spools of Kanthal for a good price through TEMCo for less than 3 5pks of OEM coils . I would suggest 100ft 30ga and 100ft 28ga to start. As far as this Nautilus Tank replacement, I can't justify spending more for a plastic tank than the full OEM Nautilus tank. The price just seems a little over the top for me. Even it were Pyrex I think I would have a hard time justifying the price.
