Why li-ion instead of li-po

I fly rc planes, heli's, and multirotors. I use anywhere from single cell 3.7v lipo up to 3 cell 11.1v lipo. Some of my single cells are 45-70c and range anywhere from 100mah to 3300 mah. I guess my question is why is it an industry standard to use li-ion instead of lipo? I think a lipo in a box mod would be easier to build than using round li-ions.

Li-po batteries can burst very high amps, but they are more expensive to manufacture, have "memory-effect", must be "primed" on initial charge to operate efficiently. Li-on batteries are cheaper and have higher energy density (last longer).

I'm sure there are better answers, and there's probably a safety issue from using a MOD capable of dozens of Amps in a burst, too :)

The li-po batteries are not safe chemistry, they can be used in a regulated mod, but on high.drain as even w running a model plane helicopter they can swell and burst, catch fire if over drained they heat up too quickly, So its not a wise one to use on a RDA mech mod.

Hmm kinda basically same thing as ^^ said lol.
