mergryphon
@jmhester - Couldnt agree more ! Those type of people have names - Ellen Corbett , Hillary Clinton, Tipper Gore , Barack Obama , Nancy Pelosi ....... the list goes on and on. They believe thier way is the ONLY way, and INSIST that everyone conform to it. Those that dont are sub-human and dont deserve the same RIGHTS that they have, the right to CHOOSE. There was once a sick and twisted little hypocrite from Austria who had the same opinion and views. His way or the gas chamber. I REALLY dont see a difference between them. *blink* Wow. Could we leave politics out of it, before it becomes nasty. 'Cause wow, if that is your understanding of the democratic platform I'm insulted on their behalf. Hitler was a facist which is usually considered 'anti-marxism' and on the right, conservative, side of the political spectrum. If anything democrats lean to the liberal left, and perhaps socialism. Boy, I saw that coming! Politics and religion are a good way to get to Thunderdome... Facts are good for the soul. For what it's worth, I don't like anyone telling me what to do unless I ask them, regardless their political affiliation. The bumpersticker next to my Deadhead one says, "Had Enough? Vote Incumbents Out" because I think our congress is just a very profitable good ole boy's club - if you're a good ole boy. If you're a constituent, you're in the way of progress. But Hey - that's just me. I vote, and I vote against the incumbent regardless of political party. I say let's turn this mess over, break up the buddy list, and get back to living by the Constitution. As to how to deal with the doubters, I'm with Christopher. That's the best response I've ever heard and I'm memorizing it. So far though, people have shown me only interest. Many smokers though, don't want to quit at all. I just keep telling them here at work that the PC club is going to get its way, and we won't be able to smoke even in the partking lot one day soon. So think about vaping. I send links to this forum and other vaping related sites to every smoker I can. I think it's the only way to go. Vape on! I agree 100 %, and I apologize, I should NOT have made that reference, and politics does NOT belong in this thread. I did not intend to offend you, or ANY democrat, or republican, or ANYONE. I do have very strong beliefs, and in theory I stand by what I said, but it did NOT belong here. Again, please accept my apology. DannyBoyfromWashington
In this particular instance I believe the husband wants her to completely quit smoking and in his mind vaping is the same thing. There is nothing that you could have said to change his feelings. Yes I do believe this had everything to do with feelings and not rational thinking. You could have pulled out scientific data that vaping cures cancer and the common cold and his mind would not have changed. Funny you should mention vaping curing the common cold. lab test are showing that it may well do exactly that (pg at least) the vapor from pg has been proven to almost immediately kill the influenza virus and harmfull bacteria in the air. http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,932876,00.html And on a side note about nicotine being breathed second hand,.. An average smokers lungs will absorb 80% of the nicotine inhaled if held in the lungs for 1 second, and more if held longer. In healthy lungs this absorbtion climbs to 95-100% and nicotine evaporates faster than water so before the water vapor even fades the residual expelled nicotine is long gone. Edit: my link does not want to apear properly but I am sure one of the moderators probably knows the article and can fix this. ddavelarsen
I think this is the article: Medicine: Toward Victory If it helps, there's a little "link" icon above the text area, just to the right of the smiley. If you click that it will let you paste in the link and your title for it. Vape on!
