VapeHappy
OK, I`m in the market for a V5, but I`m torn between the black and the stainless. I understand the black may actually be brass material underneath, and I just love the aged brass look, when it builds up that nice smokey-black patina. So, my question is: can anyone confirm that the black model is of brass construction? If so I do not care how many scratches it gets. But If its just pot metal (crap alloy) then I`ll go with the stainless. Any help on this is appreciated. TIA. R
Compenstine
All the Vamos, except the SS version, are are just standard steel. I have not ever seen a Vamo in brass.
VapeHappy
Thank you Comp, I suspected that, regardless of what I think I have read. I saw Busardo`s review and it was a bit hard to tell precisely. Looks like its stainless for me then. Maybe a little media blasting will help it look cooler. :?) Thanks again, Randall
Mr Smith
sure, you can always media blast it and paint it, but I would be careful media blasting around the buttons and screen... I know my blaster would eat that screen away in a second and get glass bead all over inside the unit around the button holes. I got the stainless one. Stainless is going to last longer anyway. Thank you Mr Smith. Ya, I know it will require a complete disassembly before blasting. And I I just love the look of beat to hell alum oxide, it winds up looking like parkerizing. Heres what I do for a living (If you can call it a living, ) Cheers, Randall
SteezeOG
I have the stainless v5 and it's been great. You can always get wraps for it to change the look. I never suggest getting the other finishes. I got the gunmetal finish in my vamo v3 and it wore off very quickly and looked bad. I got a cheap set of wraps that are snakeskin pattern and it looks cool now. I'm about to give it to a friend. VapeHappy
Thanks. I went with the SS due to upkeep. Its so simple to rebrush any scratches out. http://www.fototime.com/B8C4585FB566012/large.jpg Cheers, R
