chadfletcher Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Thinking of buying a Magma clone. But now trying to figure out the coil build. Seems like everything I've read says the Provari want go below 1ohm. ON my KFL I'm at 1.4ohm and can only run up to 4.9 volts. Looking for a cool, strong taste, larger vapor build. Just not sure if it possible with this setup
mvince201 Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 It is very possible to run a magma with a 1ohm+ coil on a provari, however I wouldn't consider it practical. You would be better off with the KFL on a provari IMO. I don't think the magma will really do much for you that the kayfun won't on this application. If you're looking for more vapor I would consider a mechnical mod and RDA, rather than a Provari. This is all opinion of course.
Mr Smith Posted July 3, 2014 Posted July 3, 2014 you can always get closer to 1ohm. I run 9.5 wraps around a 5/64ths drill bit with 28g kanthal wire. should come out between 1.2 and 1.3 ohms. hit that with 9.5-11.5watts and you should have decent clouds and taste with a cotton wick in the KFL
Joshuab3687 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 28g kanthal 5 wrap on a 7/64th bit will net you 1.2 ohms. Mtdobies 1
Joshuab3687 Posted July 4, 2014 Posted July 4, 2014 I have 1 auth Magma and a 1:1 clone Magma. Both are superb! A single coil works well as long as you position the AFC ring lined up with the hole you have the coil positioned over Mtdobies 1
chadfletcher Posted July 9, 2014 Author Posted July 9, 2014 I used 32 gauge, 6 wraps around 3/64 drill bit , dual coils came out to 1.4ohm. Flavor and vapor are awesome on the Porvari running 3.9 volts. Much better than any of my cart tanks, and little better than my KFL running at nearly the same specs Mtdobies 1
