Joshuab3687 Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Been trying to use my dremel with wire wheel to remove the pvd coating on the threads of my Panzer Blackhawk clone. Is there anything I can do to help it along? Been thru 1 wheel already. Willing to try anything at this point.
joejoevapekins Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 We use zip-strip at work. Its an industrial paint remover. Might give that a try if you can find some. We use it to strip paint off engines during rebuilds.
joejoevapekins Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 Lol nevermind that. It may mess up your outside coating. Think the wire wheel might be your best bet. Everything I know of that will strip it might also get on the outside of the mod and that want be good
Joshuab3687 Posted May 17, 2014 Author Posted May 17, 2014 Thanks for the reply bro. Got fed up. Gonna try some serious paint stripper next w/e
joejoevapekins Posted May 17, 2014 Posted May 17, 2014 No problem bro. They make a acid wash that removes pvd. Jewelers use it to strip jewelry before they restore it

Bebop Posted May 18, 2014 Posted May 18, 2014 If it is a true PVD coating you may have a devil of a time. True PVD bonds with the substrate so etching usually destroys or mars the substrate. You could try a product "Stripol". But might have to watch it pretty closely..... Tough one...
Joshuab3687 Posted May 18, 2014 Author Posted May 18, 2014 Well, if thats the case, I'll just be gifting it away. There's only so much fiddling I want to do with it.
