Just curious if any of you have had this that have been vaping 1 year+. Happy for anyone to offer input but especially would like it from the long term vapers.

As of April 23rd I have been vaping 1 year. I go to the Dr every 6 months for a checkup, its free, so I might as well get some use out of my insurance lol. I went today and since the last checkup roughly 6 months ago I have gone from 272lbs to 313lbs. Thats a 41lb gain in 6 months and a total of 62lbs since I dropped the analogs. I have not changed anything else in my life, diet, eating habits. Only change was dropping the stinkies for my PV. This was also the first time in nearly a year my blood pressure was high (98 bottom number) but my Dr. thinks it is 100% secondary to my weight gain. I am 6'2" and always will be a big person, but this has gotten out of control. I think there was something in smoking analogs that sped my metabolism up that I no longer get from vaping.

Anyway, tonight I am going to my first Weight Watcher meeting. My wife is 6' and has always weighed 135-140lbs got up to almost 200 after our son was born and held on to most of it until a few summers ago when we got back into hardcore boating. She lost 60lbs using their points system in about 8 months and has kept it off. WIsh me luck! When I do something, I do it hardcore so I will keep everyone posted on my progress.

Best of luck on your weight watchers endeavor! And I have a thought as to something that may have contributed to your weight gain in the form of the need to relocate oneself to a smoking area (when smoking analog cigarettes) being virtually eliminated when analogs are replaced with a vape. I do not think it alone could explain all of the weight gain, and I am not a doctor so I am not posing this thought as a concrete explanation. But your weight gain seems significant enough that perhaps if you can enjoy the convenience of vaping without the need to physically walk to a designated smoking area (such as one need do with analogs) maybe that reduction in your daily caloric expenditure could rear its head in the form of weight gain? Just a thought. Congratulations to your wife on her weight loss success and hope to hear of your success soon!

I've gained weight as well since I've switched to vaping but I do think there are other factors that contributed to the weight gain. In my situation, my office is on the third floor in a building. More times than not the elevator either took too long for those 15 minute breaks, or there were too many people waiting for the elevator. Either way, I went up and down three flights of stairs ritually to take my smoking breaks. Stopped doing that since vaping. Also cigarettes do ruin your appetite and reduce how much you want to eat. Once vaping was picked up, your sense of smell and taste returns. It can change how you eat and process foods. The weight gain isn't common with vapers, but it is common when people quit smoking. So I'm not sure.

I do wish you luck in your weight loss and I will probably be jumping on that wagon too. Got to get myself in gear. The hardest part is getting started.

I haven't gained any weight from vaping but I've only just quit cigarettes 23 days ago so who knows. The only thing I could see affecting my weight with an ecig would be the sweet e-liq flavors making me want to eat sweets all the time. :P

I've put on a few (well more than a few!) since I switched to vaping. I think LauraBeauty has the right idea, that food just tastes better now, so I think that I just eat more without realizing it. Also, with the body going through the monumental changes of not smoking, the metabolism may have changed. Now that the weather is better here in NE Ohio, I know I'll be getting out and walking more. Hoping to ramp up the metabolism and eat less, and hopefully those pesky extra pounds will start melting off.

I haven't gained a pound but I'm one of the lucky ones I guess - 6'3" 195. Vaping hasn't changed any other aspect of my health and life. I haven't changed my diet or eating habits at all. I'm generally pretty active throughout the day so maybe that's a factor..

Since I started vaping and got off the cigarettes I've gained about 30 lbs. There are more factors to my weight gain, though. There was the stress eating, my age and hitting menopause (which is almost a guarantee that a woman will gain weight), my time to work out was eliminated by the need to take care of my mother's worsening health, etc. Not using those as excuses but as additional factors into my weight gain.

As the days get warmer I'm making plans to walk around the block once each night. Before you laugh about my one block, it's right at one mile so I should get a decent work out. I've also found a wonderful personal trainer who will be working with me beginning around June or so when I get my life and time back.

Even with this weight gain my way too high LDL and over all cholesterol levels have changed to near perfect numbers. My blood pressure is still a little too low but not quite to the point where I need medication to raise it.

I'll take the weight gain and stay off the analogs, though.

Good luck with your weight loss plan!

Normal weight gain comes with age as our metabolism slows but my eating- drinking habits have not changed. My activity level if anything has gone up especially in my first year as a Scout Leader. Still 42lbs in just over 6 months is a lot by any standard. Not blaming vaping exactly, but for me it has been a personal effect. It's the only change lol. I attribute it mostly to tobacco speeding my metabolism where vaping doesn't.

Anyway gonna keep a log here too. Starting weight (from WW scales) is 311.4. My end goal weight is 194.

It's an easy system to follow, especially with the app. I dropped the stinkies I had had with me for over 30 years I can drop this weight I gained over the last few!

Congrats, B! What did you say you were doing to lose the weight? I know you said Weight Watchers but what does that involve?

Congrats on your weight loss... every pound is a milestone!

I don't think vaping is wholly to blame, but as others have said, quitting analogs does improve the way things taste so we enjoy food a bit more, and those of us who smoked because we needed the "hand to mouth" satisfaction, has a tendency to increase snacking as a replacement, although vaping does substitute for a lot of that need, at least it seems to take care of that "need" for me.

I work from home, and gained 10-lb shortly after making that move due to lack of all that walking at work (and availability of the fridge-on-demand), but since starting vaping, I've not noticed any gains... then again, I've only been off the analogs (fully) for a month and a half!

Tam WW is about the easiest thing on earth. You get x number of points per day and you can eat whatever you want so long as you do not exceed the points total. Some of my lowest point days so far were 3 drive thru meals just making good decisions. The app scans almost everything at the grocery and tracks everything for you as long as you log your food. You get extra points every week too for treats (bourbon) lol.

Oh and all fruits and vegetables are 0 points. That's what makes it work for me. And for my wife she did it a couple years ago and lost over 40 lbs and kept it off.

Congrats on the weight loss and the motivation to do it. I was 300lbs this time two years ago. I am now down to 169lbs. It takes commitment, dedication, and consistency. Keep up the awesome work man!

Awesome job! Keep up the good work.

P.S. Please don't send any more of those pounds north. Okay?

Ive gained weight since I dropped analogs. Makes sense since they are hunger suppressants. Granted, I went from an "unhealthy" 130lbs at 5"9' to 150 and developed what looks like a small beer belly. Odd considering I eat relatively healthy and run 4+ miles a day, as well as weight lift. Havent had this much of a weight change in 3-4 months in my life, and smoking is the only thing that has changed.

I've had the exact opposite reaction. I've lost about ten pounds in the last month and a half. The only thing I can think caused it is water intake. I haven't drank a quarter of the pop I used to and about three times more water since I started vaping. I was definitely overweight so I'm not complaining.
