Mtdobies
My new Vtr started acting up, was getting the Non message, 88.8 and it would shut down. Blew a coil in a day, etc.changed tanks as I wasn't getting any vapor, still didn't help much. I believe, now as its back to normal, it may have been possibly due to static?it was very cold, the wood stove was cranking out heat, I noticed my hair had tons of static, and the colder it got the worse the vtr would act up. I started experimentingI put a pot of water on the stove (humidity) and All is well. I wonder could the citcuit protection in the VTR have been shutting it down? Bebop
It's an interesting theory But the current is so low. Doesnt the circuit protection work off resistance though? It senses the drop in resistance, no? My guess is its coincidental but I could be wrong. It happened once. My wife let me know. We need a genius Mtdobies
Mtdobies
Thought I'd mention it in case, all I care is its fine now. Aren't wives wonderful helping you out that way! Thanks for the input. If you find a genius...
Bebop
Yeah....I mean static is measured in micro amps as far as power. Even if the citrcuit protection is measuring power as a result of resistance drop it still wouldn't be enough power to affect it. I don't know. There is a genius around here somewhere. Might be chained up out back... Tam and Mtdobies

Tam
In my neck of the woods we frequently have humidity in the single digits and my VTR has never acted the way yours did. Wonder what caused it?
Mtdobies
I Dont know but with wood heat who knows if it gets worse, other batteries were seemingly draining quick .. aliens?? Gnomes? Zombies, ya that had to be it. I put the water on the wood stove and next day all was fine. Has not done it since.. it was dead cold too though only got to 30 those nights in the cold room.
