Switching to E cigs

Recommended Posts

So I have dipped (smokeless tobacco) for years and now am leaving for college. I wanted an alternative that my school allowed that would also not disturb roommates. I recently bought a cheap V2 ($20ish) kit that stays connected with my pc via usb. This does not bother me as I am around it a lot and can always carry something to dip if I have to be gone a long time. The main thing I'm noticing is with these Menthol flavored packs (1.2%) nicotine is that I'm having to puff it a lot. I know smokeless tobacco has a lot more nicotine compared to cigs but has anyone here encountered this? Are there much stronger versions that allow for more nicotine? I also heard you could refill these disposable ones a couple times before they go bad and buy blanks to refill as well. Have you guys ever done this? What was your results? Thanks ahead of time, oh and my first trial and error was buying the menthol flavored ones D: which to me at least taste not so great. Then again dip doesn't taste very good either.

Welcome...READ.. All the answers are here..don't be surprised if your campus bans them just like tobacco. It's the new thing their up to... Disposables and Cigalikes aren't the way to go, they'll suck your cash, lot of options here, read on and then ask. PS if your under 18 gotta bounce...

A: I am 18, turned 18 earlier this year in July

B: I am still having trouble finding the info I am looking for.

I am having trouble still finding info on the nicotine content of smokeless tobacco(i know it varies but on average) compared to say a 1.2% cartridge. If need be shoot me a link but I'm having trouble navigating your site.

C: I don't have enough for a fancy e-cig thats why I got the $20 one and will refill and buy blanks with juice

Thanks ahead of time for your response.

If I were you I'd go with 24 mg of nic to start -- at a 50 PG/50 VG ratio. Nearly all e-liquid vendors offers that.

In the long run you're spending way more by buying the $20 rig because you have to keep buying the expensive cartridges for them. Better to spend $50 or $60 dollars now and have much less upkeep later on. Just my two cents. :)

Just so you know, you can pick up an Ego starter kit for around $15-$30 depending on what kind you get and where you get it from. Then when the initial starter tank (which is usually disposable) gives out you can get a reusable tank that uses disposable heads for usually around $6-$7. Then new heads will cost about $1.25-$2.00 each, or you can rebuild them yourself for pennies. One should last one to two weeks or more depending on usage. Then the Ego batteries last about three months, and new ones run as low as $10-$15. Just wanting to point out you can vape on the cheap without a large initial investment or settling for a cig alike. Plus cig alike devices don't end to help much as replacements for regular smoking or dipping... They're really intended to be used as trial devices or by people who are social/casual tobacco users. I have never seen a regular tobacco user be able to quit completely via using a cig alike, including yours truly.

I don't know where you're getting your eGo batteries but all of mine (over nine of them at last count), have lasted nearly two years. Not all of them will last that long but they don't generally crap out at about three months unless you're buying knock offs.

Honestly, where are you getting your erroneous information???

Three months is how long MINE last before I have to start charging noticeably more often. There's a lot of variables that go into how long a battery lasts someone. I never said they completely died after three months, either. The only one that seems to be erroneous here is you for assuming everyone should be just like you. If you're such an expert on the matter, I shouldn't even be having to explain these concepts to you.

Experiences vary. Just because someone has had a different experience doesn't make them wrong or stupid. Obviously though, this forum is full of narcissistic trolls that think anyone that doesn't have the same experience they do must be wrong...

I'm done with this forum. I am so not interested in this drama from those that evidently have no lives to the point they take personal offense to anything that disrupts their trumped up ideas about their expertise. As I pointed out in my introduction here, I'm a laid back person and just came here looking for a place to chat, NOT to argue, swap insults, and have my experiences discounted just because they're not the same as some random strangers. Evidently having any kind of decent communication publicly on the internet left with the nineties never to return.

Sorry this new member disrupted your bubble by trying to help some people. I didn't realize that you were the only ones allowed to have any opinions or advice. Maybe it should be posted in the FAQ here so others don't make the same mistake.

Sheesh.

I can see where Tam is coming from, though. eGo batteries are supposed to last, not die out in 3 months. That being said, I DID have a device that died within two weeks of me getting it. Like, wouldn't even charge anymore die. I don't know the usage my father put on it, but I switched to an eGo battery, then a knockoff eGo CTwist (which I'm pissed that the lounge passed off as a genuine Joyetech.... We didn't know better as new vapers), and now I have a magneto and dripper and have ventured into subohming. No issues with either eGo, I think my husband got a dual starter kit for like $30. My twist was like $20. Magneto I have NO clue on the cost because it was a trade off, we got it basically for free. Dripper was free too (we run a website where we live and a lounge sponsors us and really takes care of us). Cost of getting a full set up is cheaper in the long run than the cigalikes. I too know someone who quit on the cigalikes but he was very determined due to being a musician and smoking messing with his vocals.

FTR the device that died out was not an eGo.
