I have been vaping for about 2 months now....

So I am new to vaping.....as you can tell from the title of my thread. I started with Mistic e-cigs, then went to V2 and now I discovered the holy grail----my beloved EVO. It doesn't look like a cigarette, but dagnabit it is GOOOOOOOD.

Anyway here is my question.....I have always smoked light cigarettes. my whole life, nothing but light cigarettes. Occasionally I would get a pack or two of Lucky Strikes because I like the taste, but my pack and half habit was always light cigarettes.

But here is what I have discovered while vaping. I MUST have 24 (or 2.4 depending on if it is a cartridge or liquid) level nicotine. Is this like...normal for a light cigarette smoker? I prefer the 24 because I like a good, heavy throat hit. That's what keeps me away from the real thing.

But I was reading a little comparison chart somewhere that put the nicotine levels of e-cig liquid into context of tobacco products. It said that 12 mgs (1.2) was the equivilent of light cigarettes, 18 mgs (1.8) regular filtered cigs, and 24 mgs (2.4) unfiltered cigs / cigars. Clearly I am a light cigarette smoker. I have never tried 12 mgs (1.2) because I crave smokes when I use 18 mgs (1.8). So I use 24 mgs (2.4) whenever I can.

Is this like...healthy I guess is my question. Is there anything I should worry about? I am cutting out all the carcinigens of cigarette smoke, but I am basically doubling my nicotine intake. Is there anything I should really be worried about or am I just being silly?

You're just fine. When we give up the analogs it's normal to need a little extra nicotine to stave the cravings. Once you vape for awhile you might want to look at lower the nic a bit. The numbers are loose guidelines, not written in stone. If it ain't broke, don't fix it would be a good mantra for you at this point in time.

If it's throat hit you want, you could go with a higher PG ratio in your juice. That also affects throat hit. But for now I'd stay with what's working for you.

As a Marlboro Light smoker for decades I started with 24 mg of nic to get me through the quitting phase. After awhile I noticed I was getting slightly dizzy, a little nauseous, headaches, etc. (all symptoms of nicotine overdose), so I lowered the nic level in my juice. Problem fixed. :)

You're doing fine as is. Keep it up! :animier:

You may have smoked lights, but you were smoking almost 2 packs a day. Light version style cigarettes do not mean less nicotine. Several factors affect how much nicotine your body took in. How large of a draw, time between inhale/exhale and the amount of cigarettes smoked in a day.

I agree with Tam and Troy. Vape what works for you. It is okay that you are using 24mg to start out. You may find you start vaping less than you were smoking. When you feel you are ready take the next step down. It is okay to mix up your mg levels during the day too. You might need 24 mg earlier in the day but find that something lower works better towards the evening.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Cool beans....thanks for the vote of confidence. As far as vaping more or less than I was smoking....I think I probably vape more than normal lol. I got a EVOD BCC (in case you want to look it up) and I easily go through two and half or three full tanks a day. I just enjoy smoking. whether they be analogs or vaping. I enjoy the hell out of it!! Always have. As long as I am not getting nauseas or sick or anything, I should just be groovy......right?

I think most of us vape or vaped more than we smoked. As long as you're not experiencing any negative symptoms...vape away!

Be sure to increase your water intake as vaping dehydrates you. Better to stick with more water than soda, juice, coffee or tea, though. Also, a sign of dehydration is the inability to taste your juice like you did. :)

And do not feel the pressure to drop in nicotine as it is relatively harmless when compared to all the other chemicals in analogs. I will be vaping a year on April 23rd and dropped from 24mg all day to 18mg all day with a tank of 24mg in my pocket "just in case". I have no plans to ever drop below this level. My wife started vaping the same day I did and is still all 24mg. If you want to drop down over time do it, if not then don't. What is right for one is not necessarily right for another.
