FTJoe Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 (edited) I just had a nice lowbridge clog up after a day. Two gone in three days. So I figure it has to be something I'm doing wrong or something I'm using. I am using a mix of Johnson Creek menthol reduced PG 0mg, some Vermont Vapor VG mint 0mg and some Vapor Talk mentha 16mg to keep a little nicotine and PG in the mix. I'm dripping without a cart, I prime them pretty good and everything seems great. One issue I have is I will take hits here and there and once in a while I notice a little tinge of nastiness so I figure I need to add more juice. Have I just damaged it a little at that point in time? I love the taste of the JC juice but I've also seen there are many who believe they kill attys? Maybe it's all the VG juice? When things seems too juicy I'll also blow them out from the battery end and run a napkin down the tube to get the juice out, issue? Any thoughts? I guess I shouldn't have posted they were dead...just messed up. I'm going to take the three weird attys and try boiling one, everclear the other and everclear and boil the third one. One seems clogged, two taste funky unless I load with juice. Edited November 8, 2009 by FTJoe
SteveD1 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I purchased JC Artic Menthol as a first refill purchase..It was terrible I asked for a exchange and they never sent me the return labels, email whatever.Kept it for a emergency backup..The other day i decided I would try it out to see if my taste buds had anything to do with it and it was so nasty tasting I flushed it.I wont ever buy from them again. Sorry JC for the suck review but you were my first try at refilling and the lack of customer service to several emails waiting on return info,Labels etc.And the horrible taste was just too much for me to ignore.I have tried 9 different flavors in 3 brands total and nothing I didnt care for was as bad by a long shot as the Artic Menthol I recieved. Final Note:: The rumors of atty killing with your products just lead me flush it and forget Yall!!!! Never Mess with a Noobie they never forget!!!
Christopher Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 FTJoe, I'm wondering if your using the Joye atomizers. (You can tell by looking inside, if you see little threads coming out of the bridge it's a Joye) As of recent I've heard some reports of them crapping out. Pretty much for no reason. To me it sounds like your doing everything correct and you may just have a bad batch. To be honest I've never had any Joye attys go out on me like you have stated but I have experienced the weird "metallic taste." I have spoken with a few suppliers about the weird taste and most of them say they've never experienced it. I have a feeling Joye has changed the way they create to atomizers, what ever they are doing different isn't working out IMO. I'm currently on the look out for better atomizers than Joye, I get the feeling they are going down hill a bit. I wished I could offer more but I'll keep you updated if I find anything better.

Thinking my xmas present from the SO will be the VP2 but I need to figure out what the heck I'm doing wrong. I have empty carts so I may try that again as well. Edited November 8, 2009 by FTJoe
FTJoe Posted November 8, 2009 Author Posted November 8, 2009 Final Note:: The rumors of atty killing with your products just lead me flush it and forget Yall!!!! Never Mess with a Noobie they never forget!!! I just can't believe with all the folks that buy JC, there is really an issue with attys. Maybe they are like me and are doing something critically wrong and just don't know what. Or maybe it's using JC juice???? Sorry about the customer service issues, that should never happen. I just happen to like the taste of the JC juice, they have something weird in there that is nice and mellow. I use about 3/8 JC, 3/8 vg vermont both 9mg and the rest (1/4) of VT mentha 16mg. Anyway, I just got done with my experiments. Boiled one, evercleared one, and evercleared and boiled another. The two that went through everclear seemed clogged, the one I just boiled was tasting cruddy. I have a new lowbridge 801 atty in my janty stick and I'm making sure I drip often making sure I never go "low" and get the burnt taste. I'm thinking maybe that's what I'm doing wrong, kind of burning it when I go low on juice and killing it?
VegasVapor Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 I try to blow my attys out every night and leave them upside down on a paper towel over night to drain the liquid out. I found that if I don't, the atty clogs. Probably the juice drying up inside the air holes. I found an article once where someone used an air compressor to force the juice out and unclog the atty. I have not tried this and have been meaning to, just haven't wanted to spend the money on the air compressor. Here's the link http://www.e-cigarettepedia.com/2009/04/how-to-clean-your-e-cigarette-atomizer-with-an-air-compressor/ If you do try this, please don't hold me liable if it damages the atty. Like I said I haven't tried it myself and I do not know the person that wrote the article. Just something I found when I googled "clogged atomizer". As for the burnt taste, one of my 801 attys is doing this. Usually with my 510 attys, all I have to do is add juice and the burnt taste goes away. But on the 801, no matter how much juice I put in, the burnt taste is still there. I don't know what it is, maybe just the way the 801 is. I set that one aside and now I'm using a new 801 atty and trying to not burn it out by making sure it's always juiced up.
Christopher Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 That only seems to happen with Joye atomizers. I totally know what you mean with the weird taste. I'm trying to get suppliers togeather to talk about the issue and see if we can all speak with Joye and get this issue sorted out. They changed the way they create atomizers and I want them to move back to the old method.
FTJoe Posted November 10, 2009 Author Posted November 10, 2009 Well so far so good with the three methods of cleaning. I have a funny feeling I really only needed to boil but since I have the everclear, I'll probably do that then boil. Attys seem pretty good but time will tell. The one I was using today was getting clogged up so now I'm wondering if it's the Johnson Creek or Vermont Vapor juice. I'm going back to just Janty and VT Juice to see if that helps, then I'll introduce one of the suspects and see how that goes. Also, I put the attys in a wooden spoon to prevent them from touching the bottom of the pan. Didn't think it would be good to have them absorb the heat from the pan which would be more than the temp of the water. I'd use just VT juice but I'm averaging less than 10mg now as I cut down the nic and the lowest I have from VT is 16mg and 24mg. I long for the day when the store is open and has 0 nic available (hint).
