IMEDICx90
Lol I see your lurking at mod envy. And no you can use one or the other, although a cotton core surrounded with hemp is an idea.....

Compenstine
I don't see why not... So far the problem I have with hemp is it burning my nose on the exhale, I'm sure it is because I need to work on prepping it first. The directions I got I followed, but it just didn't quite work. I think it still had residue of the baking soda in the fibers because I could taste the B-soda. I tried just boiling it but it had a burnt taste. I have 1 kg of hemp fiber now so I can work on the prep. I don't like the idea of using peroxide and oxy clean to prep it. It is just for the fact that if you don't get it all out, it goes in your lungs. There has to be a way of prepping it without the chems.
Aquatroy
Glad you chirped in, do you think the stock wick has been prepped ? Better just to pull it out and wrap with cotton?
Compenstine
I'm not sure on it being pre prepped. If it came from china (sold at a B&M), I would think not. If it was one custom built by a B&M then I would it probably was. You may want to just replace it especially if your not sure of its origin.
