spydre Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Well, other than using outdated information (the 2009 thing), which contains information that is no longer true, and calling nicotine highly addictive, I'm playing Devil's Advocate here - probably because Durbin is my Senator, but also because I sort of came of age in a time where they transitioned from showing people smoking on TV to almost no one smoking on TV. And those characters that ARE shown smoking on TV now (other than cigars, it seems), generally seem to be evil, or conniving, or *******, or some negative light. The powers that be, while they aren't happy that smoking is shown on TV, are more than happy to have it shown (cigarettes, that is) in the light that it is, in a negative light, and only "negative characters" smoke. Again, this was butting up against legislation that isn't there - you can't smoke in hotels, so they didn't have to worry about it before (and it was held in a hotel ballroom). No such law preventing vaping, so people were doing it.
